Going to be hitting up Boston for a couple days in May.
Looking for recommendations for places to check out for music in the city.
No top 40 or mainstream - looking for underground sounds - anything from house to dubstep but a preference for the funky...
Thanks!

Good Life. They always have some sort of random night. Last time I went there I think I heard 2 songs tops that I actually knew. First floor was a mix of indie-disco house, african tribal beats, and international stuff. Basement was all dubstep and hard electro

Also I've personally have never been there but Bijou I heard was a really good house club. And if your also trying to party on off days the promo company THROWED! throws sick parties at Middle East Basement every Tuesday, they tend to always have some sort of random celeb DJ

Rise Afterhours has the best house music in Boston. It is very intimate as well. Only open 2-6 am. Bijou also does a good job with keeping out top40 stuff, but is full of pricy bottle service types. Descent at W hotel has some decent lounge music(live), as well as Bond, but only on good nights. find me if you want to meet up for a beer. dave@djdavidgallant.com

Soo, if you're into D&B then check out Phoenix Landing in Cambridge on Thursday nights. They have the longest running D&B night in the country.

I can also vouch for Middlesex. Last time I was there a few months ago the DJ was great. Don't remember who he was unfortunately, he was covering for the usual Thursday night dude.
Anyway he played an awesome mix of old school hip hop, rock, and some current stuff. Best part, he was rockin' it on straight vinyl. Had the crowd going. Depending on who's there it might be more mainstream than what you're looking for but it's worth checking out.
