MIxed in Key / Re-scanning id tags in ITCH problems

So I've been playing tracks in ITCH for a few months and have everything sorted in crates...some songs in multiple crates. Songs are kept on an external hard drive.
I just bought Mixed in Key and analyzed everything on the external hd.
When i go in ITCH and hit re-scan id tags that key info doesn't show up an any of my songs.
For any new songs I've added i have ran mixed in key before importing into ITCH and they have worked but what gives with the other 300 tracks in ITCH.
HELP...I don't want to manually type the Key info in on each track and I can't delete the tracks from ITCH and re-import since I have tracks in multiple crates.

What format are your files?
And where are you having MIK write the key info to?

MIK info is being written to my tracks on an external hard drive.

I think Bob meant where are you getting Mixed in Key to write to 0within the tags, which field
I tend to put my key/bpm info pre-track title easier to read when looking through tracks at a glance

Hey Character79,
You will need to get MIK to write the key information to a tag that ITCH reads. ITCH doesn't read the same key tag as the one MIK writes to. The best option is to use something like the 'Comments' tag as this is not often used. Get MIK to write the key to the comments tag and then it will show up in ITCH when you re-scan the ID3 tags.
Cheers.

That would be the case if they were .MP4 or .M4A files, but it sounds like it could be something else since it is working for new tracks. I would ask how are you adding the tracks to MIK? Have you tried dragging the ones that don't show a key directly from ITCH into MIK's analysis queue?

MIK results in key tag...
> shown by ITCH (& SL) if the file is an MP3
> NOT shown by ITCH /& SL) if the file is NOT an MP3

MIK does not work worth a crap.
My buddy complained that his paid version doesn't work so I went over with my drive.
I scanned with the following options for write options
Store key result
before comments
update "initial key" tag
NOTHING
waste of his money and so glad I never bought it.
until the program is fixed my website will be updated as this software being crap.
What DJs want:
decent scanning speeds
better than decent accuracy
the ability to modify the song properties AUTOMATICALLY and precisely as we choose. (i want my keys in the "key" part of the properties.)

but it isn't even writing to anything!

You need to re-examine your setup, maybe read/write permissions?
Because Mixedinkey 5 writes to both the comments, and initial key field, for me with mp3, AAC, Apple Lossless and mp4 video files.
Both fields are then visible in the latest versions of Scratch Live and Itch.
Ur doing it wrong.

I've had a problem recently with mik... I've been using it for a while and it has made my mixes WAYYYYYYYYYYY better... i highly suggest it. however lately, key fields have been funny... working on some files and not working on others... all mp4 video. i just use the comment field now. it adds it to the beginning of the comment field... maybe someday it will work out.

Those mp4s probably have bad tag headers... I'll bet they have XML and OVB files created for them in the metadata folder.
Load them into mpeg Streamclip, do a 'save as' to create a new mp4. You'll have to tag them again from scratch but once you do, all the new tags will stick.

Depends... Handbrake is very powerful if you go deep into the 'command line' type of settings in there, you can get some great results.
For a more simplistic user like myself, Mpeg Streamclip is more GUI orientated so I find it easier to use.
Also, Handbrake is designed just to do one job well; export to mp4 'delivery' files.
Mpeg Streamclip is more versatile for things like encoding 'intermediate' files, like ProRes files, to then use in editing software, and has a few more tricks up it's sleeve (like the 'save as' function above). It does a LOT more stuff.
They're both free so I would suggest everyone has both installed. But I find myself using Mpeg Streamclip more as it is more of a video 'swiss-army knife'.
