Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

Serato Video for owners of Video SL with both Scratch Live and Itch hardware

DJWOLFD 4:56 PM - 17 January, 2012
Hello. My question is... if I already own Video SL as well as both Scratch Live and ITCH hardware (2 different set-ups), will the free SERATO VIDEO plugin upgrade for Video SL work with both my Scratch Live and ITCH setups, or will they be separate software specific plugins for Scratch Live and ITCH. Just wondering if I'll need to purchase a separate SERATO VIDEO plugin for ITCH.

should be they same. but a pc running itch video. nothing but problems.
DJWOLFD 5:44 PM - 17 January, 2012
Yea Que, I'm hoping that's the case. And I feel you on the PC thing... just one of the many reasons I'm a faithful Mac user.

Wolf D! When did you get in on this video thing...
DJWOLFD 6:54 PM - 17 January, 2012
The grand incredible DJ E.RICH!!! Hola my man. Just diving into it. And of course, the next time I come back home, I'm gonna have to come visit one of your sets so I can see the master at work!

Hey guys,

If you have Serato Video, it will work over both Scratch Live and ITCH platforms when it's available :)

Sam.

Thanks for the info Sam.
e.rich 10:59 PM - 17 January, 2012
Or, even better, you can throw down with me
djrexnefx 11:33 PM - 17 January, 2012
when the plugin is going to be available to download?
DJ Greekstyle 12:27 AM - 18 January, 2012
So to make certain, if i am running Itch on an NS7, I will not be able to use Serato video until March? Does that mean the Serato Video-sl will not work with ITCH?

Not till march. exactly
skinnyguy 4:22 AM - 18 January, 2012
not until the march update. just get it now while it's cheap.
DJ Greekstyle 5:08 AM - 18 January, 2012
so just buy the Video SL now and wait even though i have nothing to upload the file on since I only have itch?
DJ Greekstyle 5:21 AM - 18 January, 2012
ok I bought it. Thanks for the suggestion. Now I take it that I sit on the scratch live version of Video Sl and wait until March and pick up my free upgrade of the software for itch?
DJ'Que 5:43 AM - 18 January, 2012
yep
DJ Greekstyle 5:46 AM - 18 January, 2012
thanks for the response. Much appreciated. BTW what do you think of this VJ Video pool site? Is it quality? I mean I could do the same with my fm.com on xbox and my eyetv recorder, but i don't have the time to spend. Thoughts are welcome.
DJ'Que 5:53 AM - 18 January, 2012
yeah its quality. some like 8th wonder quality is not so good. if you don't have a 1tb or higher firewire drive go get it now. learn all you can now cause once you get it it will still be a learning task. were on here 25/8 learning different stuff. some of us make our own edits and clean up edits that need to be recoded or if the track is not sync we sync it to a cleaner track.we make clean and dirty ourselves.
DJ Greekstyle 6:00 AM - 18 January, 2012
hmmm.. sounds like a lot of work. I do certainly appreciate the info. So you use the external HD to house your vids and then run them through to the Mac in my case (via firewire) and then into the newly designed Video SL coming in March into my NS7?
DJ Greekstyle 6:02 AM - 18 January, 2012
also, are you using FCP to re edit the vids or even watermark them with your name, etc?
DJ Greekstyle 6:23 AM - 18 January, 2012
btw thanks again for the help. Also, is there any real latency going from the external HD to the video in and in remixing mode? that is definitely one thing i do like about the NS7..No latency on a good mac.

Naw I use fcpx and imovie 11 then use a converter to convert it over. I use a external sometimes but my 3 macbook pro's all have 2 tb harddrives in them. I replaced the optical drive with a 1tb harddrives and also the main drive. There is no latency issue. I dont see a vj pool your talking about. But most are good pools. We have a stick with all the pools in it.
Res-Q 6:01 PM - 18 January, 2012
^^^wrong, most are NOT good pools, as a matter a fact only very few video pools are good, do ur homework, this area is full of threads about which pools are best, but as a whole SV, XT and a couple others are miles ahead, all the other are just crap.

That pool sucks. Doing waste you time.
If it means anything, 8th wonder is better.

It is a lot of work. I don't use VSL cause there's a few features I need that they don't have but there is a ton of knowledge in these forums. I've been trolling a few months now, lol, and have learned a ton of ish here. If I ever do decide to use VSL I'm confident it run flawlessly thanks to this forum and fellas that live here, lol!!

curious....what kinda laptops were being used to demo serato video at namm?
nik39 9:51 PM - 25 January, 2012
Seriously... VSL on a PC sucks. You need be lucky to get a working computer, and even then... the feature set on a PC with VSL is limited. Quartz is not available for PCs, but Quartz stuff is extremely powerful!
