Static noise / Humming with 57

I took out my 57 for the first time last night and noticed a couple of things.
1.) Anytime I moved the cursor/pointer with the touch pad after it had been sitting for a minute or two, a scratchy static noise would be made and heard on the main system and in my headphones. Im using a new Macbook 2.0ghz with 2 gigs ram. The buffer is turned all the way to the left. Any ideas?
2.) Im not sure if anyone can help me with this, but when I plugged into the house system, you can hear a hum. When I plugged into a monitor there, the hum was unbearable, so I didnt even use a monitor. Whats wierd is that I have been playing with the 57 at home on a powered Eon 15 and nothing like that happened before. Anyone have any suggestions on that?
Thanks.

Known issue with Macbooks, try using the other USB port.
2.) I also observed things like you described. Did you try lifting the ground plug on your laptop and maybe the mixer? It helped for me, but is of course not a good solution.

I have the usb plugged into the one closer to me. I will try using the one closer to the screen next time.
I'm wondering if maybe the socket that I plugged my power strip into was the issue, or maybe even my power strip. I dont know.

My internal gain was set at 93. It comes out of the box at 92. What setting do you suggest djmoney?

not really sure...i just adjust them as necessary. I just feel like it's odd that I'm the only 1.8 + 57 + leopard user on this forum that never has problems. almost seems too good to be true. i mean, yeah, there's weird little quirks that come up here and there, but they're all usually solved with rebooting SSL. Maybe I just don't read into them as much as everyone else, but everything in my combination of hardware vs. software seems to be pretty flawless all the time.
...the rediculously long startup and shutdown times are getting pretty old tho.

i should add that it's incredibly rare that i've actually had to reboot SSL due to any kind of issue...i think maybe twice in the three weeks i've been using 1.8 because the program wasn't reading the control signal from the record.
