Hey guys,
Recently a request by one of the bars I dj in, the owner wants to incorporate video to the mix. I told him I heard a little about it. I have been using ITCH for the last 3 years so now this is what I know. I need to run Scratch live and get the Video addon. Also I need to replace my equipment to be Scratch Live compatible. I just picked up 2 Pioneer CDJ 1000mk2's and now trying to find the appropriate mixer that will work for VJ. I searched a lot before asking so I didn't repeat threads but came up empty. As far as my mixing style I don't do much scratching. Mostly just droppin in on Cue points and some basic effects. So from your knowledge to my ears what do you suggest. My wallet lets me go about $1500.... maybe a little more.

Rane TTM-57 all day every day, BUT rumor has it there may be a new mixer dropping soon at the NAMM convention in a couple of weeks.
If you don't need all the new shiny bells and whistles, though, a 57 will totally serve all of your needs. You can also use any other mixer with a MIDI assignable crossfader, but you would then still need an SL box. The 57 has it built in, just plug in your CDJs and you're good.

LOL, yeah that's the other option. Use your existing ITCH controller with Virtual DJ until ITCH releases the video plugin.

I use the Pioneer DJM-800 with an M-Audio Uno MIDI adapter and I'm really happy with it. You can MIDI map the 800's crossfader in Serato Scratch very easily and it works like a charm. Any mixer with a MIDI out can be mapped in SSL as long as you have that adapter or something similar. You can even use the arrow keys on your laptop to transition between tracks if you're not going to be doing crazy blends or scratch ins.
The TTM 57 that Eric suggested is great as well though. Thinking of picking one up myself depending on what they announce at NAMM. And there's a rumor that video is coming to ITCH too.

or if your a fan of rane and 4 channels the 68 (but i never used one)....
but sadly you can only mix 2 vidoes when vsl is enabled(I think)
and 4 audio tracks when vsl is not enables(or something like that)

there's no doubt in my mind that the pioneer 800 has more useable midi functions than the 57. i just don't like 4 channel mixers.

You guys have been a great help. I think the 57 is what im goin after. returned the mk2's and just picked me up a pair of cdj 900's wow these are sexy. Just wish the rane had lights to see in the dark. I guess nothing wrong with adding a light strip to my laptop mount.

You could always get a USB gooseneck light too. You can connect it to one of your open USB ports. The flexibility really helps out.
