Free Video Editor w/timestretch + VSL and ME - upsides to having both?

Hi there,

I am looking for a free and functional video editor. The only features I need are the ability to timestretch the video exactly to fit my tracks/remixes/mashups (which has altered speed of the original) and to get good output in mv4 format or similar format that VSL can handle. Anybody?

The second thing I am wondering about:

I recently bought VSL, but I have registered a lot of people praising MixEmergency as way better. And some people claim there is advantages to having both. Im not sure that I understand that so could someone explain me the benefits of having both? As Ive recently purchased VSL it would seem a bit expensive to buy the ME as well if its "only" a better interface for videomixing?

iMovie will probably do what you want.

Failing that, you'll have to spend some cash. Final Cut Express?

MixEmergency is just better. You'll buy it and probably never open VSL again.

But it's worth having VSL too, because the next version might be epic.

1) free video editor for mac. no idea.
2) the only benefit of having VSL and ME is
a) convenience
b) if one comes out with an update and it's better than the other you can switch over.
3) ME is not only a better interface. it has more and better features. if you are JUST playing videos then stick with VSL, unless of course you get tired of linking videos to mp3s manually.

does vsl have text scroll or rotating logos yet?

Benefits as stated above. A concern for me might be if Serato makes changes to Scratch to render M.E. unusable. It already seems unlikely that M.E. will be integrated with Itch, or any other Serato product moving forward.
/I hate even typing this possibility out...
