Finally Purchased The TTM-57

djfrankfresh 6:05 AM - 7 November, 2007
I just wanted inform everybody that after a long wait, I have finally purchased the TTM-57. First and foremost after owning and using different types of mixers including the TTM-56. This mixer has set the standard for performance and design. Not to mention that Serato is built in. It's gonna take some time to fully utilitize the effects. Rane/Serato keep up the good work.

Peace

Right now im using Nik's trick for using the EFX by pressing the Flexfx button. Does anybody else using this feature?

Yup works nice, don't need to be in group six to drop a simple echo out.

Nice one button push, though I hate when I forget to turn it off. while cutting / scratching in the new track. <must learn not to leave on>

Just added myself to the club on 12-28 i thought i would regret spending almost $2,500 for a mixer with serato but i bought it because i couldn’t sleep just cause i wanted it badly. I took it to a b-boy event last Friday, at first some guys were clowning because i popped up with my laptop (they were popping jokes like "what you got pcdj?" then they cracked up. Little that they knew i was still going to use vinyl, apart from the flawless performance it helped me give, it really stood up when mcs gave me their cd with their beats and they saw juggle them with the vinyls, the 57sl was really part of the show.

I am boycotting the 57SL.

I am an Australian dj, and I battle with a Vestax 06Pro and 2x Technics 1200s.
I bought Scratch Live in order to digital edit and scratch video, which I have been waiting for long before I heard the original release date of July 2007.

I am outraged that Rane and Serato would stab me in the back. They have monopolised the software deliberately, and I have discussed this for some time with them personally. They should show some loyalty to those that invested in the original Scratch Live unit, instead of trying to line their own pockets. If I had known that they would do this I would have stuck to my vinyl.

It would have saved me time, effort, and money that I spent changing my OS.
NO Linux support? Yeah Thanks. Not to mention buying a multimedia hub to record.

I hope you're happy, you've opened the door for every try-hard with a dvd collection. So much for preparation or experience.

If everyone has to use the same equipment, then how is anyone going to do anything different or original? If you can't manage video with the industry standard, then you shouldn't be a dj, let alone a vjay. The 57SL are a gimmick, and Rane mixers are for amateurs.

If I find a way to scratch video files without Video-SL, I will make this information as public as humanly possible. Once again, I am boycotting the 57SL, and anyone that wants to join me: post here, or email serato directly.

Rane, Serato. The customer is always right, and we want Video-SL too. You don't even have to change it, just release it without the 57SL.

Just got the 57 for $1185 new,I sold my DJM-400 to get it and I originally planned to sell my SL1 too, but I might just get a DXMPRO or DXM09 as a back-up and keep the SL1 in case. To be honest I bought the 57 to make me a better scratcher and mainly to GET MY HANDS OFF MY LAPTOP! I just think it makes you look like a fool to the crowd, who just think you're playing a playlist or something. I do have CDJ800's so maybe that makes it worse. I didn't know Video-SL would be an additional $200 or that it was mainly designed to work with a MAC. I do love the Rane sound and once I get comfortable with the buttons it will be great, but I do have some bleeding out of the box on the left side if I just push the fader over lazy, I guess the cut-in is too sharp. Coming from a Pio-mixer the effects have allot to be desired, good thing I mostly play hip-hop so all i need is the echo out.

if you can mix, cut, and know musical structure there's no need for any effects whatsoever.

hash cookie... Again, you're on your own.

Do you honestly believe that ANY of the file DJ software companies would do any differently? They wouldn't. If I had a company, I'd do the same thing. And besides, YOU GOT SSL TO DJ WITH COMPUTER MUSIC FILES TO BEGIN WITH!!!

Another thing, I used the Rane MP 44 on club gigs for 9 YEARS and the only thing that the club had to replace was the crossfader on-off-thru switch on channel 2. 9 YEARS! That's pretty good gear if you ask me. Rane's mixers are some of the finest mixers I have ever played on, and anyone that tries to tell me that Vestax products are better is just sniffing glue for a living. (I know there will be people that like Vestax, so I'm saving you the trouble of posting. I just think that Rane is WAY better, because they are! :) ) I don't even OWN a 57SL and I want one.

Your posts are quickly growing tiresome, and you should focus on HOW to fix your particular problem instead of hating on a product that you obviously don't know enough about. To add to this... Do you honestly think that Apple would sell OSX Panther to PC without charging PC users a hefty surcharge? If you think they would, you're dreaming... Enjoy DVD's!

ok, back on topic to the important stuff ... just picked one up myself! hell yeah!!! only problem is, won't get to play with it for a week =(
