Setting Beat Grid With Multiple Temp (HELP)

I'm just starting to get the hang of the beat grid and make sure tracks are adjusted right... slipping the grid and making sure the first downbeat maker is in the right place.
One thing i can figure out is how to set the grid for tracks with multiple BMP's... i have a track the goes from 140bpm to 174bpm. The manual says to set another red marker by pressing X (or double click) and then adjust the markers from that point on. it says the other part of the track before the new maker wont be affected by the changes. but after i set the new marker and move the grid lines around it changes the lines for the whole track... not just after the new marker.
what am I missing here?

it doesn't seem to function the way there telling us it does.... it supposed to not affect any of the previously set grid markers when you create a new red marker midway down the track. But I can't seem to get it to work like that.
Someone has to know the solution.

if you want to work it out till then:
just set a new grid marker on the beat before the track bpm changes that should keep all before that in time then work your way forward .

That would be good to see Lashes!
I struggle with 'transition' tracks too. Given up trying to grid the bastards.
Serato, if you're listening, an official tutorial video would be appreciated...

yea, after lashes said to put the new red marker bar before the location of BPM change, i was able to move grids arounds without it fully changing the grids already set. but it was still not correct. must have tried like 8 times on the "talk to me" (www.google.com) track.
can't wait for the video!

did you check this one:
serato.com
basically it all has to do with first finding an anchor red X as far left as possible, then either stretching the grid to your next point OR making a next red X to pull the grid to that spot without stretching the grid after the new point... it takes a bit of practice

BTW, it also helps if you know what sequence your beat grids should be landing on:
-128, -112, -96, -80
-64, -48, -32, -16
1, 9, 17, 25
33, 41, 49, 57
65, 73, 81, 89...
Some tracks have a few bars added into the 4x4 grid which messes everything up to a certain extent...

Finally managed to catch the whole video, great work DJ Lashes, thanks for doing that.
You know what it made me think though? Itch needs a metronome, like in Ableton, in the offline player. That would be well helpful.

So what happens after that? i dont use beatgrids but im curious? if you are playing another track and you hit sync before hitting play what will be the behavior of the track? it will speed up and down automatically to compensate the variable bpms to stay in sync with the other deck?
dj lashes

no it well not speed up or down the new track will start always in time and the same speed with the beat grid so it could start(move) before or after the point you have it cued on.

+1 for the Metronome in offline player (with ability to switch on or off)
It would be a help for getting accapellas and basslines perfect for gridding

I quit editing the beat grids. What I do is fix the songs in Abelton Live, that way the song is permanently fixed and will work in any program.

Degrades the quality unless you export as lossless though.
Also doesn't help with transition tracks as discussed in this thread.

I do export as lossless. It does the same thing as setting the beat grid in Itch. When you warp the tracks in Abelton and import the track into Itch, there is no need to adjust the beatgrid, all the beatgrid lines already line up.
mutator
5:28 PM - 6 February, 2012
Itch doesn't "warp" the tracks... it just moves the beat grid markers around. The moving and editing of the gride does nothing so the songs sound, pitch, or tempo. Ableton on the other hand does.
Panotaker
6:25 PM - 6 February, 2012
You can do it in Abelton without changing the pitch, sound or tempo also, but do it your way, it doesn't make any difference to me. But if Itch ever changes the program and your beatgridded songs are no longer compatible, you will have to beat grid your songs all over again. With Abelton, once they are fixed, they are fixed for any program, that's all
I'm saying. Itch needs to be able to export your beat gridded songs as a lossless file too, that way they will work in any program also.

I guess it all comes down to how bothered you are about sync.
I'm not bothered enough about it to go to the hassle of gridding or warping everything.

Yes! I'd given up solving this issue about four years ago. Your video has sorted it - many thanks!
