57 working w/Mac but not PC?

okay, first things first, Im running 1.7.3 and testing 1.8 and I prefer to use the 57 at ANY gig. NO problems when other djs are using Mac and are updated (read up on necessary versions/firmware specs, i dont know offhand).

Recently, Im spinning with some pc users and theyve been having problems. I dont know the make/model/specs of theirs, but word, probbblems.

First situation:
Okay, while I was using 1.7.3rc1, the PC that tried to hook up had to update their SSL, cool. But only one deck worked for them! I had to crash course dude on single turntable selection. Couldnt work out problem midparty, but wish i could recall whether or not we could hear the control vinyl thru the phono channel. It was deck 2, or right side, that wouldnt load. Thats all the details I have, sorry.

Second situation:
Now I'm updated to 1.8, which has a firmware update that *should* work with 1.7.4, havent tried yet on my machine, buuuuut... It did NOT work with a PC on 1.7.4 (1.8 not available?). Again, PC user, had to update on the spot (from 1.7.1 i think). Nothing weird here, just "interface disconnected".

Granted, both these guys are idiots; neither one has bothered to ask around here even though we have future gigs coming up. Dude from second situation said 1.8 wasnt available for PC, but I'm able to d/l the vista version w/out hassle.

I apologize if this issue has been addressed already, I swear i searched. But yeah, anyone know whats up here?

Please understand I have no beef w/PCs whatsoever, but I also have zero experience using one and dont know how they work.

In the first situation the user may have had deck 2 set incorrectly in the setup screen. I'm not sure which inputs you use on the mixer but if you are using 1&3 on the mixer you need to check that 1&3 are selected on the setup screen.

In the second situation you most likely didn't have the drivers installed. If you run the installer on a Windows PC, make sure that the mixer is connected whilst you run it and the drivers will be installed automatically.

nobspangle, i think your on the money with both situations. I'm using 1 & 4, not the default - which is what his new install wouldve looked for. Cant believe I missed that; I blame Jack Daniels entirely.

2nd situation, the mixer wasnt connected while installing i'm pretty sure.

Cool, good shit. Thanks much
