Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

I have seen the light... Now I don't want to go back.

I am not sure I want to go back to using my DVJs until I get the rest of my library converted after last night.

SSL 2.3.3 + ME 1.7.2 to play and RECORD my video set had to be the MOST fun I've had in AGES. I was so scared to take the MacBook into the club for so long and now all I can do is kick myself for waiting.

I had been recording my sets using a settop Sony DVD burner and the quality loss drove me nuts. Not having the crappy analog connections to wash out my sets means the picture looks SO much better. It took about 5 (1:1) hours to render the highest quality output for my set but it was so worth it.

I am now going to push hard to get my fellow VJs on the fence to make the move off their DVJs.

so you've been playing dvds this whole time?

Yep I've been using my DVJ-X1s/1000s since 2004 or so. I'd had SSL for almost 2 years and was so paranoid to give up the rock solid DVJs for a software solution. I realize now that the MBPs are more than able to take what is being thrown at them.

I thought MY friend was late to the game. He just went from dvjs to a lappy earlier this year too....but he's on mixvibes because it plays vob.
