Finally I FIX yes I said I Fix the Problem with the 68 Q POINTS

djpolonyc 4:34 AM - 22 December, 2011
yes I'm so happy I did it, the Q POINTS are working really good now no delayyyyyy at all.
I will post a video tomorrow , I just finish doing it ,so far so good. I hope they stay like that
bye bye dicer
djpolonyc 7:28 AM - 23 December, 2011
Stop complaining about the cue points I fix it yes I fix it this is so simple I have this mixer the first moth it came out and I feel the same way but now I'm in love again.
I took the mixer apart 2 times and I was scare to do anything to it but the third time I did it.
I took everything apart from the top board , I try 1 cue point first
( the one the I always had problems with.Thinking I don't have anything to loose the button don't work anyway )
I put a drop of oil on it, then I put it back together and the fuckinggggg thing works so good no delayyy at all. The button trigger every time u touch it, you don't have to hit it hard at all, is so amassing believe me ..
Of course after the success of the first button I open it again and I did it to all the button now every thing works on time cue points loops every thing. Try it or wait for the video I'm going to post this week good luck
I hope I get a reward from Rane for this

That looks ace! as long as this isn't too much of a hack that it messes the mixer up long term. I remember oiling up faders on a mixer when i was younger, worked like butter to begin with, but a week later my mixer was jiggered. Needed all new faders!

I know I had that on the back of my head, but the button don't work anyway I don't used them.
I used the dicer, I guess I'm going to keep the dicer for a few before I get rid of them .

D5 contact cleaner/lube is going to be a better choice than oil

+1.
D5 or F5 are both oil based as well but its only 5% oil. Not 100% like the F100L-25c solution.
D5 or F5 are good for all buttons and knobs.
F100L-25c is good for the faders.

Any word on that Video djpolonyc? Just curious to see what you did to the mixer.

What oil did you use - cooking oil?
DJScottC 1:09 AM - 29 December, 2011
I am also very interested to find out what u did to the buttons and if the fix works long term. I hardly use the buttons either because of they are not accurate and stiff and use the midi mapped buttons on my Denon 3700's. I hope this fix lasts over the long hall and will help me with my Sixty Eight as well. I would be curious to know from someone from Rane if this fix will void the warranty on my mixer?

I wasnt being sarcastic, that was a legit question. You simply stated you used "oil", we want to know exactly what you used.

Was is the "De-Oxit Fader Lube F100"? Or De-Oxit Fader Cleaner Spray?
BERTO 12:49 AM - 31 December, 2011
Ha awesome polo, do it yourselfers for the win! You will be helping a ton of people out with this, Rane post a video of how to take apart the 68 for users attempting to finally fix this issue
You-Lee 12:22 AM - 1 January, 2012
Thanks Dj Polo. Thats the way they should work. Berto is right.... Rane should post a video to take apart the mixer. This has been an on going issue which they did absolutely nothing about. I had the 68 since it was released as well. The video showing how these buttons should work is hot. Again THANK YOU DJ POLO!!! Eta for the video showing how to do it?
BERTO 3:49 AM - 1 January, 2012
Thing is if you fuck something up on the mixer while trying this it may void warranty and Rane/customers wont like that. Do it at your own risk i would say
You-Lee 1:02 AM - 2 January, 2012
Berto is right about the warranty issue. I would hope not. If Rane would put a video up on how to do this in detail. Maybe we can take it to a authorized repair place and have them do it? I would do it that way just to be safe not sorry.
djpolonyc 4:49 AM - 2 January, 2012

Thank you for the very detailed video on the button fix for our Sixty-Eight's. That might be a little more work then I am willing to do myself and I have already had my mixer back for repair 2 times in less then a year or so here so I am nervous to attempt this and have something go wrong and Rane now want to service my unit. If this does work for the long term it would be nice for Rane to provide this or another service to make the buttons work like they should correctly and accurately. I do find it very frustrating that I can not use the buttons like they are meant to be used to be totally honest!

Are you stating if Rane would provide this as an optional service, you would be willing to send it in on your dime?
You-Lee 1:46 AM - 4 January, 2012
I agree with Scott C. They should cover the service for this being that everyone paid so much money for the 68 and waited so long. Rane has done nothing to fix this issue.

THANX BROW!!!
firestitchfilms 11:40 PM - 1 February, 2012
Hey guys. I think if your cue switch is intermittent the lube trick will work. If your cue switch is completely inoperable, you will need to send it in. I've sent mine in twice now. The first time the Cue 1, deck 1 was completely bad. (It did not fire at all.) The invoice said that they "replaced bad monetary switch". The second time I sent it in for intermittent cue 1, deck 2. (The cue fired about one in five times.) The second invoice stated that they "cleaned & lubed ALL cuepoints, AND several other buttons with F5."
Hope this helps.
Thank you to Kelly at Rane for being so nice.
