Video for ddj-S1?

Is there any way to make this happen? Has anyone had any success mapping an S1 to SL using midi?

Can't do it.

This isn't possible currently dj NiCk DiCk. You can MIDI map some of the controls to the DDJ-S1 within Scratch Live but you would be using it as an external MIDI controller and you wouldn't be able to link the crossfader to the audio or map the platters.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Will it be possible? If so, when can we expect it? Only asking because I need to make a decision on equipment for permanent travel...

Nobody knows except Serato and they won't discuss forthcoming products.

My guess is that it's a few months off at least. So if you need a travel rig soon Scratch Live is the way for now.

Scratch Live coming to a DDJ-S1??
yea, right.

"This isn't possible currently" does not mean a thing.
has no one noticed serato has a way of not denying nor confirming many subjects? it's easier to not confirm nor deny anything. they leave their options to "possibly" doing things pretty open. meanwhile readers are left wondering and hoping.

ask them a very direct yes or no question on development or if something is definitely coming and see what answer you get.

ddj-s1 and ssl...i would not sit around waiting or hoping for it.

i had a buddy come over that owns an ns6.
so here's what i did...

we setup itch on my comp, started it and mix emergency.
using mix emergency in it's independent mode works for vjing...sort of.
no, it will not sync the video to the audio (yet). you can load an mp4 and play the audio but the video of that mp4 will not play.

HOWEVER, we set a few controls on the ns6 to work with ME. we also created a few smart knobs.
with the proper setup ambient tracks will switch out each time you load a track.
volume and crossfade midi can be set to control effects in ME. so as you are mixing the video is changing visually. i am dissapointyed that i did not check if the EQs were midi mappable. but in conjunction with a midi sequencer many controls can be automated. i'd be interested to see syphon used as well with midi setups.

so really you CAN vj with these devices but it's not exactly the same.
it's a new avenue that people should at least try.
also, this is a good reason that VSL should be a stand alone program as well.
