I DJ at a club that has 4 TVs. Those tvs are connected to their inputs using a component 1/4 signal splitter/amplifier box. The input for this box is component. So my macbook plugs in (using an adapter) to an HDMI input in the DJ booth. A chord runs all the way to the back of the club.
So how do I go from HDMI Female to Component???
I know chords wont work, and I keep hearing these $100 converter boxes don't work...anyone ever done this before?

if the splitter has component in, why is there an HDMI cable at DJ booth? it should be a component cable from the dj booth to the splitter.
if you really need to go from MiniDisplay port>hdmi to hdmi all you need is a standard hdmi cable. standard cables are male to mail. The MiniDisplay Port adapter and HDMI input at the booth are both female.
now if the cable is actually component you have a few options:
MiniDisplay Port>DVI plus DVI to Component adapter or cable
or
MiniDisplay Port>VGA plus scan converter. i use a AverMedia QuickPlay and it has Composite, S-Video and Component Video out
Please clarify which MiniDisplay port adapter you have and if the cable from the booth the splitter is HDMI or Component Video.

The biggest problem is this, I ran into some of these with my computer customers wanting to have their computers display on their flatscreens, etc.
HDMI is a signal where as Component video is Analog.
You cannot got from a digital signal to a analog signal passively. It requires electronics to convert the signal to make it work. This is why you need external devices.
If you're going from an analog to analog signal, it's not a problem. ie: VGA to DVI-I
If you're going from a digital to digital signal, it's not a problem: ie: DVI-D to HDMI
This is a simplistic explanation but the problem is you're trying to go from HDMI (Digital Signal) to Component Video (Analog Signal).

If it really is a massive HDMI cable running the length of the club, which is rare, your cheapest option would probably be to buy a 4-way HDMI distribution amp for the other end and connect all the screens via HDMI.
That still won't be cheap though.

I think what I am going to do is buy a 125 ft RCA video chord and run it. That way I can just get a Avermedia(spelling?) box and go MAC -> VGA ADAPTER -> AVERMEDIEA->DISTRIBUTION BOX. Sounds like the easiest option.

i hope by RCA you mean component video?
anyways if you are going run component video cables over 100 feet i highly recommend using RG6 coax cables with an F-Type to RCA adapter at the end. RG6 has better bandwidth and less loss than component cable.
so at the booth you would have MiniDisplay Port-to-vga adapter connected to an avermedia quickplay (or other scan converter). The avermedia would be connected to a 125 ft component video (RG6) cable.

Component is 3 connections right? (red, blue, and green) I would have to run composite (one yellow) or something like this (like DJ Nyce said).

I had to go from vga to hdmi recently but the converter box didn't work so we switched tv's to one with vga.
I have a 100ft vga cable and it works everytime for me.
