active speaker will not work

Hi all!

I DJ at a bar and they have bought an American Audio speaker which draws its power from the output from the mixer. Tried it with the 57SL last night and it did not work.

Can anyone suggest why this is the case and how I might get it working?

It was suggested last night that the mixer voltage output may be too small and that a pre-amp might help. I tried looking at these today but unsure which type would be suitable.

Any help would be greatly helpful!

i use active speakers all the time with the 57...work perfectly! it must be the speakers, maybe blown?

Also, active speakers draw there power from the wall outlet...not the mixer!

Im a little confused. Sorry, what do you mean by drawing power from the wall outlet? These speakers only have one input which is for audio input.

active speakers need electricity to work. The amplifier is built inside the speaker. If there is no place to plug in power they are not active speakers they are passive speakers! Which means they require an amplifier. You would to plug the output of your mixer into the amplifier and then plug the speakers to the amp.
