Live loops

Full Spectrum 2:17 PM - 6 November, 2011
Is there a way to set the cue buttons to act like dicers with live looping? Like how on the dicers you can hold down the buttons to make different loops on the fly?

Thanks.
erange 6:40 AM - 7 November, 2011
assign loop on off midi notes to the cue buttons
Full Spectrum 6:42 AM - 7 November, 2011
Sorry, but how do you do that?
DJ Dub Cowboy 3:11 AM - 10 November, 2011
in midi mode, click on the numbers below the in/out/loop

you can scroll the numbers (while not in midi mode) to access different loop lengths
Full Spectrum 6:06 AM - 30 November, 2011
It won't let me assign the loop lengths to the cue strip buttons :s
DJ Dub Cowboy 7:01 AM - 30 November, 2011
are in you group 2-5 on the 68?
Full Spectrum 6:25 AM - 8 March, 2012
Yup Im in groups 2-5 and i can map any other buttons to loop rolls but not the cue buttons still. I dont understand why its not working. Been trying to get it working for months.
S4racen 2:26 PM - 8 March, 2012
It doesn't work on a 62, you cant reassign those buttons....

Read the other threads on this topic and add your weight behind the campaign to get this ability added, it's within the software that the change needs to be made not the mixer!

Cheers

I'm talking about teh 68 not teh 62

Are you using a Mac or PC type computer?

What version of SSL are you currently using?

Within the SSL setup screen Hardware panel, do you have the option "Allow MIDI assign of mixer controls" checked or unchecked?
Full Spectrum 7:48 PM - 8 March, 2012
Pc Windows 7 core 2 duo/4gb RAM. Running latest version 2.3.3, and yes the "Allow MIDI assign of mixer controls" is checked. I can assign any other buttons, just not the cue strip buttons.
Full Spectrum 7:49 PM - 8 March, 2012
@ S4racen no worries bro. It doesnt have 68 in the title because there used to be a forum section for the 68 specifically.
S4racen 7:53 PM - 8 March, 2012
Gotcha!

Load a track to each deck (in REL mode) with cue points. Hold the Layer/Shift button down an press cue 1, all your assigned cue points should light green. If so, hold Layer/Shift and press 2, all the previously lit cues should turn off, correct?

If so, press the MIDI button at the top of SSL, click on the desired autoloop length and then press the "cue" button you'd like it assigned.

Any luck?
Full Spectrum 8:37 PM - 8 March, 2012
Thats what ive been trying. When I load a track the cue points come up automatically, If i hold down the layer/shift button, and press cue 1, it goes to the cue point, and when i let go of the shift/layer button, the cue buttons become unlit. If i then try to assign a cue botton to a loop legth nothing happens. Theres gotta be something im missing lolz. Should my cue ponits not load until i hit layer shift & cue 1? cause they light up as soon as I load the track, and will go away if i tap the layer/shift button, but holding layer/shift and hitting the button doesnt seem to switch to a new group.
Full Spectrum 10:01 PM - 8 March, 2012
So maybe thats the problem? its not actually switching to a new group?

Shaun W 10:05 PM - 8 March, 2012
It sounds like it's not switching to a different group. Hold layer/shift down and then press cue 2 to switch to a different bank (bank 2) and see if the cue lights go out.
Full Spectrum 10:30 PM - 8 March, 2012
If i hold down layer/shift and press cue button 2, it assigns a cue point, and then the lights go out when i release the layer/shift button

Cool, now that the lights are out (after layer/shifting to group 2), try MIDI assigning the autoloop lengths to the cue buttons.
Full Spectrum 12:34 AM - 9 March, 2012
It doesn't work. The cue buttons won't allow me to assign to cue buttons. How do I tell if it actually switched groups?

Zach S 12:45 AM - 9 March, 2012
If you load a track with 5 cue points (which you would see in group 1) and then hold down the layer/shift key and press the Cue 2 button, all of the highlighted buttons you were just looking at while in group 1 won't be highlighted anymore.
The only time you should see those 5 cues highlighted is when in group 1.
Full Spectrum 1:25 AM - 9 March, 2012
Ya if I hold down the layer/shift button and press one of teh cue buttons, it sets a cue point for that button then after releasing teh shift/layer button teh cue points become unlit, and if I go to midi and select loop length it will not assign.

Are you using REL mode? If you assign the autoloop length to another button (like a Mic ON button or something), does it properly assign?
Full Spectrum 7:24 PM - 9 March, 2012
Yup I'm in REL mode, and I'm able to assign teh auto loop to flex fx buttons & mic buttons, just not teh cue strip buttons. Weird right?

Please try this:

Close SSL

Open your internal drive User Music folder.

Open the _Serato_ folder

Locate and rename the MIDI folder to OLD_MIDI

Restart SSL and retest.

Any luck?

Quick question, are you using USB port A or USB port B?
Full Spectrum 7:30 PM - 10 March, 2012
Renaming the midi folder did NOT do the trick. :(

and I'm using USB port A, and I tried it in port B with the same results.

Thanks for all your help so far BTW :)

Quick question, will the cue points map to any other SSL software feature besides the auto-loop?
Full Spectrum 9:21 PM - 12 March, 2012
Nope. They won't map to anything. It kinda seems like they're not switching groups properly.

What firmware version does your 68 display as being installed? Look in the setup screen Hardware tab. Thanks :)
Full Spectrum 6:01 PM - 13 March, 2012
1.30

Quick question (sorry if this has been asked before) have you tested your 68 with a different Windows machine running Windows 7 and SSL version 2.3.3?

Is your version of Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?
Full Spectrum 5:13 PM - 20 March, 2012
I haven't been able to test on another computer sorry. Been trying to find someone to test with teh same OS/hardware. I'm running 64 bit windows 7
