57SL original software required??

Hi,

My local club residency has purchased a 57SL.
After several attempts to get it working (sofwtare found it, all the effects, etc were on screen but no control of vinyl and no sound) we took it back to the shop , who told us that each computer that wishes to use the mixer MUST uninstall the original serato running and re-install the software that specifically came with the mixer....

Can someone confirm this? so if we have a guest DJ using Serato he has to uninstalll and reinstall before he goes on....? That seems ridiculous...

Big thanks,
Fidgit

Well, whoever is going to use the mixer NEEDS TO HAVE THE DRIVERS THAT WORK FOR THE 57 installed in their computer. Simple as that.

Mac users don't have to do that... but PC users do.

So, a guest DJ would download the software for free... and just plug in to the 57 and get ready to rock.

The shop clearly don't have a clue what they're talking about.
You need to be running at least version 1.6 but other than that the software is identical. The fact that you saw all the hardware related stuff on screen means that you were running the right software and had everything installed correctly.

Sounds to me like your inputs weren't set correctly.
The easiest way to do it is to connect your decks to inputs 1 & 3 on the back of the mixer, then make sure that on the hardware setup screen in the software you have those inputs selected.
On the mixer you need to have the input selectors set to D1 and D2 to hear the digital input from SSL.
On the back of the mixer you need to set inputs 1 & 3 to phono using the DIP switches, make sure you set 2 & 4 to line or you run the risk of creating background noise.

It really does sound like a driver issue.
