Take the ratings (stars) from iTunes

The "rating stars" are saved from iTunes in the mp3 files.
It would be helpful to organize the tracks, it they are integrated in Scratch Live...

ID3 allows storing rating stars for each email address. Applications are using a fix e-mail-address - but always their own.

The ratings are from 0-255 and each program take e.g. 0 = 0, 1 = 50, 2 = 100, 3 = 150, 4 = 200, 5 = 250 ...

So this is really horrible as usual in ID3. Which one should Serato take. The one from Windows Media Player or the one from iTunes.

Note: I don't know what iTunes is using and storing because not tested.

I recommend to use the GROUPING column and use these "tags": RT1, RT2, RT3 .. (= rating 1 ..) or "ST1" = stars 1 ..

Then you can use the smart crate to find all these kind of tracks.

Of course - 5 yellow stars on the display would be much better and an eye-catcher!

Yes, that's right.

The MP3 Tag POPULARIMETER (POPM) is standard in IV3v2.4 (isn't it ??) and made to show the rating in many different programs.

It looks like this:

email|rating|playcounter
e.g.
no@email.de|154|4

The rating field means:
1 star: 53
2 star: 104
3 stat: 154
4 star: 205
5 star: 255

If i am rating the tracks with Traktor, the stars are visible in the MAC OS finder, iTunes, AND in Windows Explorer (and other windows and MAC OS programs) so i guess these progams and OS'ses are reading the same tag (POPM).
Why can't SL read these tags?

Scratch Live should read out these tags, because it's standard.

The Winamp-own (and other) rating tag is negligible and can be ignored, because it's not the standard!

The yellow stars, aren't an eye-catcher but they are a really helpful way to organize your library.

Not an eye-catcher for you - but for people (guests) who are looking on my dj-laptop behind me (1-2 m). ;)

Scratch Live can't do it. No matter what Rane hardware you're using.
