Just got my 57... Ready for video

trido 3:45 AM - 13 September, 2007
So I just got my 57 today for 1250 out the door at Sam Ash. I am truely blown away, I have been using my DJM-800 and the 57 tears it up. I am running 4 decks now, 2 DVJ-1000's and 2 CDJ-1000's using the SL-1 and my spare macbook. I LOVE IT... Can't wait for 1.8 video so I can mix 4 vids at a time using the DVjs, 1.8, CDJ's, SL-1, DJM-800, TTM 57 and my video mixer. It's gonna be CRAZY

That does sound good.

I too am on edge waiting for 1.8! I just took my projector over to Deco (the club I play on Saturdays). The owner is going to mount it to the rafters and hang a screen on the wall. We have 3 big plasma screens there, so once I get that video plugin I'll be mixing videos in the club that weekend. I've already started preparing my video library.

We also got a 57 at my other residency (Friday nights) and they have 1 plasma. I'll have to get them to buy a few projectors so the whole club can see britney's pathetic vma performance (j/k).

The little midi controllers (Vestax, Numark, M-Audio, etc) are cute and all, but not nice enough for big clubs. As much as I can't wait for 1.8, I really can't wait for some super high-end big midi controllers.

Hey cMO, how are you storing your vids...ripping and coding. VOB....avi...mov? In what mediuom...external or internal?
cMo 4:51 PM - 19 September, 2007
external, of course. Everything I do is on external drives. I need the mobility because I use a different computer in several different locations, and I need to work on my digital library wherever I go, whenever I can.

As far as the process, well, for now I'm still being very selective. I'm only concerned with finding high quality music videos of songs that I would actually play, when the time is right. Fortunately, thanks to great services out there, I've found some excellent videos.

As for encoding - well, I haven't even looked at that yet. I tried converting some stuff for my iphone, but I haven't really worried about what I'm going to do with 1.8 and the video plugin yet. I figure I'll have a lot of work to do, like I did with my mp3 collection.

The video plugin 1.8 on this site sais the following:

"The mixed video output will also be sent to the separate video output, which can be connected to an external monitor, video projector, or external video mixer."

Where's the video output on the TTM 57SL?

Thanks in advance...

The video plugin site on here mentions Quicktime format. I'm just guessing H.264 codec would preserve quality well and save space. I think this is the preferred codec for the phone...not sure.

Either way,
How do you rip the DVD then conver to H.264 easily or efficiently? Will the new video plugin handle that sort of process?

if not people like nik39 & kagen will lead the way! ;)

Have you used ScratchTools???? Sick!!!

it's not on the 57. the video output is from your laptop.

Same here I got me an TTM57 just for playing videos. I'm resident at a club in Sweden (one of the few that run video 100%) and have played on DVJ-X1 for 2 years now.

So I'm ready to spin some video on vinyl...

I be more than happy to beta test 1.8!
