Hey All,
Anyone experience a loss of sound from the 57? The SL1 works fine through the 57, the program gets the file from the HD, the program gets the timecode from the vinyl, the tracks show levels in the program, but no music comes out of the 57. Everything is connected and gain staged properly, no sound from monitors or headphones. Pretty sure the issue is happening between SSL and the 57 in the audio/data chain.
I can get it going with a restore point on the PC, but this is the second time its happened and I'm trying to sort it out. Thanks for any help.

Do you have all the latest Windows updates, especially the Service Pack updates?

yes, I double checked that last night. I normally check for updates about once per week.

yes...and I'm directly connected...was just asked that in the help forum thread.
I wonder if it could be related to an update from MS?

Perhaps, but why would it keep happening after you roll back to a restore point?
Do you have another computer you can use to test your 57?

Maybe I can have a buddy bring one over. Are you thinking about this to rule out the D/A converters?

I'll have another XP laptop running 1.7.2 in the house tonight after work (6pm CST)

Yeah, just trying to narrow down the possibilities at this point. One less thing in the equation the better.

worked on the tower PC...now it works on the laptop too. Lends a lot to the bad connector theory. I hope thats it. The only other thing that changed was that I unplugged the extra monitor and keyboard from my laptop to use with the Tower.

Interesting. Try connecting the monitor again and try to reproduce the problem. If it still works, connect the keyboard then try to reproduce the problem while both are connected.

For sure. I might have some free time tonight after my archiving session for a stress test.

well...the good news is that I can't get it to fail...the bad news, is I have no idea why or when it might happen again. I'll be back when/if it does. Thanks for the help so far.

Looks like I may have finally isolated the offending device. My firewire 800 cardbus adapter seems to be causing the audio portion of the TTM57SL to be severed from SSL, perhaps on the computer side of the usb link. Scaled back to FW400 last night, taking the cardbus adapter out of the data chain and using the internal PC 4 pin jack. My last event happened 6 minutes into the session, at which point I yanked the cardbus adapter. 2.5 hours or music review later, running fine with no issues.
If anyone is interested in the model number of the offending device, check the link to the help section above...then scroll to the bottom of a rather long thread.
