Is the 57 sufficient for House/Trance/Tech Dj's

I currently have SSL but I'm in need of a good mixer and have been jonesing for the 57 because of the integration of control, effects, and only having 1 box(the mixer) to carry. The one worry I have is, will the 57 be sufficient for playing out for a trance dj. I haven't gotten into mixing more than two channels as of yet, but I have run into some instances where I could see myself doing so.
Also, I was told by a friend that the throw on the faders is a bit too short and more geared towards Hip Hop DJ's. Any truth to this? Would I be limited in mixing ability because of this? Will this mixer be good for me or should I look elsewhere? Can any House or Trance DJ's comment?
One last one, will Serato start catering more to the House/Trance/Tech Dj's?(a 3 channel mixer with SSL integration, or an open source for other mixers to control SSL). I think Serato is missing the boat in not going after this segment a bit more aggressively.

I disagree, the 57 is the best two channel mixer I have used.

As both a Hiphop and House DJ, I find that the 57 (for my benefits) it suited more for scratch or hiphop mixing. but I've only had it for approx 1 month now. When mixing house or any club type music where the mix needs to bee smooth. I tend to use the up/down faders set to slow because the mixing is smoother. using the side/to/side faders cant get the mix smooth enough to my liking..
Again the 57 is one heck of a mixer.. but I can't want till the next one comes out with at least 3 channels and a wet/dry effect knob and easer FX settings.. and what ever other feature RANE adds to it..

It is much more limited for trance/house style. When I mix stuff like that, I find I use the gain to do subtle mixes. The faders are too short for really subtle blends. It is the best two channel mixer I've ever used but that doesn't mean it is optimal for every style.

Set your upfaders to slow and your cross fader to fast and you are good to go no matter what style. Don't front.

For me as a Hip Hop DJ it's the perfect mixer, but sometimes i mix some house at home and i can say, the EQs are perfect, the effects are working good and the linefaders in slow-mode work also. And i know a lot of house-djs who are lucky with the 57.

if you need a really long throw on your line faders to spin house and trance, you'll feel slighted no doubt. OTHERWISE -- If you mix with EQ's, you will love the ability to turn the high mid low and have nothing left on a channel. The control you have with Serato on board, the feel of the mixer is excellent, if you do set it to smooth, it's perfect just a bit shorter than you might be used to.
I have an A&H which I dearly love to mix on, but once you start adapting to the 57, that 4 millimeters on the channel and the 4th EQ knob are much to be missing while gaining so much more power over Searto.

Keep the opinions coming on this one please....
I am faced with the wonderful opportunity of buying the Serato box plus buying a new "house" mixer such as a DJM, or just buying the 57.
I mainly want to hear where I should best drop the cash on a house music mixer.

Is this a new rumor making the rounds? I could see someone modding a DJM-800 with the Serato box internals but can't see how Serato would release a mixer in conjunction with Pioneer given there connection with Rane.

I studied every aspect of the djm-800, and it feels like plastic compared to the 57. The pioneer mixer seems so fragile in comparison. Allen & Heath mixers seem more sturdy / durable than Pioneer, but still less than Rane.
The 57 is the best mixer in the world right now, because SSL is the best software to DJ with, and the ability to incorporate control of the laptop within the mixer is revolutionary. This mixer is so far ahead of other traditional DJ mixers it's not even funny.
The ONLY competition I've seen for the 57 is the Xone 3d. Even that seems to me to be more for producers doing live PA than all of us oldschool disc jockeys. Even then the 3d is $3,000, so that just tells you right there, the 57 is BY FARRRR the best mixer on the market for ANY STYLE OF MUSIC because of the new buttons.
I've been a working house DJ for about 10 years. I've been getting paid to play for almost that long too. I used to play nothing but house music, because things were different back then. There was more of an underground scene here, vinyl was still the best of the best, and all my friends played house. These days, thanks to Serato, I've branched out into other styles and genres. I still play 80% house music, but probably not by choice. If I had my way I'd probably only play 20% house music these days. There are so many great producers popping up making remixes and putting out fun party music. That's another story, but to get back on topic, I'm amazed that people would consider any other mixer, knowing the direction that things are going right now.
There's no money in record sales anymore, and there's absolutely no good reason to spend over a thousand dollars on a mixer and not get the 57. Not until some other companies seriously step up their game. Yes, that goes for Pioneer too.
Vinyl is out, CD's are out, mp3's are still on the rise, but when it comes to music videos and good VJ's - better watch out!
Don't sleep it's time to plan for the future of this digital revolution. See you at the top ;)

i think the main thing turning folks off to the 57 is the format. And this is a combination of both size and # of available simultaneous input channels.
EDM guys just ain't used to the 10" mixer, and usually the experiences EDM djs have on 10" mixers is in recalling "starting out" on a cheap mixer which are typically...... you guessed it, ten inches! So there's a negative association with 10" mixers in the EDM world.
When they upgrade their mixer after paying a couple dues, learning to beatmatch, got a few gigs, etc... they upgrade not only in features and quality but usually size as well. For a long time 19" were the club standards, since the Pioneer 500, 12" mixers have become the club standard.
If Rane were to make a 3 or 4 channel, 12" format mixer similar to the TTM57SL, there is no doubt they would gain more users and DJs from the EDM side of the DJ world. And i have no doubt they will, one day. They won't do it with Pioneer, because Rane is also in the business of making mixers so a partnership with Pioneer would not only be counter productive but also Rane has nothing to gane from Pioneer in terms of quality, reliability, or usability. So it would be an unfair relationship.
Furthermore, i think that there are far fewer EDM DJs out there that truley need the 3rd channel, far fewer than there are whom are able to just adapt to the 10" format of the TTM57SL and shed their pre-conceived notions.
I'm sticking with the 57. Not waiting on an Empath SL, not waiting on a 58.
Why spend the time waiting when you can spend it rocking a 57?

I think its an awesome House mixer I love the fact that its hard to clip your EQs and I find just setting your faders to slow works the best. the only issue I have with it is my eq knobs are getting really stiff as opposed to a DJM line mixer it stays real smooth but its easier to clip it when you tweak your knobs for those fast EQ transitions.

Overall comment, I had a friend move from a DJM800 to a TTM57SL and he said he noticed an improvement in the sound quality of the Rane mixer versus using Pio + SL1 box.
