Shift key for everything but CUE markers

G-man NYC 10:02 PM 5 July 2005
I was so accustomed to using REL mode with my cue markers set in v1.3 that I feel like my method of working needs to drastically change in order to use 1.4 with all it's new internal control functions (which I don't use except for the auto play function on occasion).

If there is anyway to have the 1-10 buttons NOT require the shift key while the other cd mixer functions require shift to be pressed (with the use shift keys preference in the setup checked) that would be great.

When the use the shift key preference is disabled it's very easy to think you're in the the search box and start typing the song you want and SSL will start doing all kinds of crazy things depending on what keys you hit. Hitting shift 6 on my laptop requires 2 hands or a very awkward pinky-thumb keystroke.

Since searching for a song or artist that has a number in it would be extremely rare and probably result in not specific enough results I don't think this would cause any mishaps as described above.

mate, use "bloq shift" as a switch...

You mean "hold shift" key I asume.

Hold shift?

Then all the keys would function as shift and we're back where we started...

I would like the 1-10 keys to work without using shift while at the same time NOT having the letter keys function as controllers for INT and REL modes.

Ah, hm, valid point.

sorry mate, i didnt understad at first. yes, valid point. i never suffer that problem because i ever use the shorcut ctrl - f to jump to search box before typing anything... but i agree with you, its easy to make a mistake.

I think this is a good point I think the reason why it doesn't work this way was something to do with people wanting to skip to different tracks in the browser based on their bpm.

A bit off topic - On Fujitsu laptop keyboards they have an arrow (like the shift arrow) that points down I guess that saves them having to make localised keyboard keys.
