FX Issues...

Does anyone else here feel like the FX are a bit hard to use? I feel like I get the hang of it, but then I can't get the right effect on the right output when I want to do it live. It just doesn't seem set-up very intuitively. :(

I only use the echo thru flex fx.. and I only use the same setting all the time and have it locked to my bpm so its kinda all I need.. but u def have to press quite a few buttons to do stuff.. agree

Hmmmmm what do you guys mean?? Im about to purchase the 57 in the next few days. Is it difficult to engage an effect?? I would only be using the echo effect mainly but it looked pretty simple in the agiprodj review video.

I am sure people are going to gang up on me.. but the FX on the 57 are not friendly.. You might want to consider an external effect box..

I am however using the FX but with the presset button as "FXFLEX" I think that works best when you want to do a quick echo out of a mix..

Personally I perfer the 57 with the Kaoss connected to it. (much more control..)

Well i have an efx500 that i was selling to afford the 57. but my whole reason of getting a 57 was less gear to take out. I currently have to hookup the sl1, efx500, and trigger finger everytime i gig out which is about 3 times a week right now and its becoming a pain to do that and then set it up when i get home. if i keep the efx500 and still use it, it kinda seems pointless to get a 57 since i already love my mackie d.2 faders etc... Dam it i was getting one today or tomorrow but now i having second thoughts lol.

The mixer is great! The FX are clean and easy to set up the way you like. The big problem I have is actually using the FX on a "Per Channel" basis. It's not very intuitive to change fx, or assign on the fly. You just don't have that time if you want to do something quickly and then get back to another one of the programs in the "hardware" section. T

here needs to be an easir way. Maybe a "Scroll FX" feature where you turn the knob and assign it to a track. That way you KNOW it's there!

Oh ok that makes sense. Well i would mostly be oing only the echo effect until i can get my mixing on point. I dont want to use tons of effects until i get my blends perfect so i guess thats not so bad.

DJCheLu.. Try it before you buy it.. See if a local music store has it.. and give the FX a try

Already bought it and so far i love the mixer. I use the effects flex fx trick and im loving it super easy to use so far. Only bad side is switching effects takes a few button pushes. But the mixer is solid very happy with my purchase.

DJCheLu, Make sure you turn off the effects when using the mic. I was doing a wedding and forgot to go into the group and trun effects on and my mic was echoing.. (heh.. learning the hard way)

Well when you engage the effects you push the flexfx button correct? So by turn off do you mean make sure the flex fx button is not engaged?? or do you mean actually go into the fx group b6 and turn it off?? I will mess around with it later and see what happens :) echoing mic would be interesting at a wedding.

AdamJay, thanks for the useful information. I was using the EFX-500 unit along with my 57sl. I do have a couple of questions, it seems that everytime that i turned the mixer on i have to go back to the group-b6-depress AUX and turn effects on. Is there a way that we can just save the settings so you won't have to go through that extra steps to get the effects working through the FX buttons....Second questions, once everything is turned on and echo is working, the full wet full dry oprion is not adjustable as well as your beat adjustments..1/8 1/4/ 1/2 3/4 etc....The options are there on the screen but not available to adjust...can anyone shed some light here!

djdannyd, it's always best to start your own thread if you need help.

The mixer will always start with the effects turned off, this is by design and will not be changed.

On your second question it sounds like your joysticks are in transform mode (light off) if you push them in to the mixer and hold for half a second the light will turn on and the effects options will be enabled.

You have to go in and turn it off in fx group b6. This is the reason I'm using a efx with my 57. I would love to use just the 57 but when I have the only mic input in the club it's a pain in the ass to turn that off everytime someone cracks the mic. If I have an external sound board for mics than its ok. I wish Rane could fix this through a firmware update but from what i've read it's not possible?
