Scrolling Marquee for Title - Artist

DJ FLATLINE 11:57 AM - 9 August, 2007
I think it would be a good idea to implement a scrolling marquee type function to the song name/artist at the top of the screen (above the playing deck). I put bar counts in brackets in the track name and sometimes it doesnt show up on screen because the name is too long.....for example

Busta Rhymes - Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check (Jay Dee Bounce Remix Inst) [4b]

This name is too long but it follows the structure in which I tag my files (as it appears on the vinyl/cd rip). I would like it to be able to scroll across the screen if it passes a certain character limit (let's say 45). Ths would be a good option for those that mark their idtags like they marked the jackets/vinyl to remember bar counts or breakdown points in the track.

I hope this makes sense.

ekwipt 8:45 AM - 13 August, 2007
no blinking scrolling but i get what you mean, I think it would only scroll if you moused over, what's everyone's opinion?
AKIEM 10:20 AM - 13 August, 2007
word, on mouseover

personally I cant imagine needing to read all that crap, mater of fact I always cut it down

to scroll or not to scroll , that is the question

how about, simply giving us the option, check to scroll, uncheck not to scroll

this way everyone will be happy
Chita79 7:44 PM - 13 August, 2007
i agree with u musiclee... make it an option for us :)

Major crazy bump. scrolling is a must, option or not.
I'm tired of having to click on the name or extend the window just to check if i'm playing the clean or dirty version of one track (or worse the instrumental). i guess i could color tag them but that's just long.
AKIEM 6:18 PM - 17 August, 2007
you could search "clean" and tag them all at the same time
djcharles 7:07 PM - 17 August, 2007
sure but then what happens if it conflits with another tag. like for example: all my warm up set r&b is in blue and i deside to tag all my clean records in green, what happens to the warm up clean r&b. shall i color tag it in teal?
AKIEM 7:28 PM - 17 August, 2007
thats a good point, but 'yes' (I guess)

I agree with akiem I think it will be too distracting. Why not just put the bar count in the comments field?

That would defeat the purpose as it's already apart of the info. Why would I want the same info twice in the SONG field and the COMMENT field?

I put my bar count after the song info so it will show up at the top of the screen above the playing deck. If I put it in the comment field, it won't show up at all. That's no good for me because sometimes I load a song and jump out of that crate or do something where the previous song is not showing in the selection area. I'm also 5-6 songs ahead of what is actually playing so after I load a song, I instantly search for another even if I have one already cued up and ready to throw into the mix (Vinyl mentality).

It works on the tags that are shorter than 40-45 characters but anything over that won't show and all I'm asking for is the ability to see that info at the top of screen all the way through. (Marquee or mouse-over)
