if it is to heavily to add subcrates to the SSL-Software, it would be great, if you can add an explorer, like the one in Final Scratch...it sucks day by day to work with the import window.

Just drag things over to SSL from your regular folders, man. That's what I do...

Yeah... why wouldn't you just create crates within Scratch Live?

I dont know his reasons, but my reasons why a explorer might be better is, that right now everytime you add a new track to a folder, you have to update it manually, and believe me, thats not funny if you have 20 crates/folders and you need to update them each time.

you don´t get the point....
just moving the folders to crates column wouldn´t solve my problem...then i would have all my reggae, dancheall, and soca riddims mixed...that makes everthing unclear...and i would have over 300 crates...
i want to have subcrates, but as an alternative an exploer like the one from Final Scratch (which reads mp3 tags) would also satisfy me...

Agreed. I hate having to update crates manually each time. Sometimes I even forget the new songs I added to the folder forcing me to delete the crate and recreate it.

Using itunes makes it a lot easier. I didnt think it would but I gave it ago and makes it simple with the smart playlist function

I hear you bush, I tried the itunes thing an found two problems with it.
1) I wish I could make a self updating smartlist off my folders.
2) Itunes ignored a lot of my files that play well in SSL, Musicmatch, Windows media .... and I do not know why. The files check out fine in Ashampoo.

You can. The way I have my mps sorted in a folder callled vinyl, broken down by genre, breaks, techno, house etc. I had mp3's to these everyday.
So what I do is go to itunes and create a smart playlist and set it to match the following conition
"genre" contains "breaks"
This will add any new mp3s in the breaks genre to this playlist. You need to have your mp3's tagged properly though. All you need to then is add mp3's as normal to your vinyl folder and then when you go to play ssl just open itunes and add any new mp3's to your playlists. Then when you use ssl they will be added too

Therein lies my problem ... I have lots of music that cannot be tagged simply as "hiphop" or "breaks". I do have lots of underground world genres that can only really exist in their own folder. Some of thos cuts are bolters that can do well during a house session but they are not really house, they incorporate different styles of music.
Ones that fit lets say in a hiphop set will be copied into the hiphop folder as well. The hiphop itself is even split into south, eastcoast, westcoast, early 90s,mid 90s,late 90's,mid 90s etc etc etc. One song can take a variety of description so tagging for me is not really practical. Having them in folders, even repeating some songs in 2 or 3 folders seems to work best for me. I wish I could create a smartlist using
"Folder" is "90's House"
make any sense ....

I see I like to keep it simple. I have stuff that might not be exaclty house but ill tag it as house just to keep it organised. I do tag the hip hop different alright, I tag the battle stuff as "battle" and any scratch sentances ive made myself as "scratch" and anything else as "hip-hop"
I suppose you could always just tag them as "eastcoast", "westcoast" etc.
