Timecode on USB + TTM57SL

hamzter 3:33 PM - 5 May, 2011
Hey all, just wanted to put this out there since I am tired of carrying my TTs to gigs. Can the timecode be put on a usb thumbdrive and played from there to control SL? I am looking at either of the multi format players with playing the timecode from a usb thumbdrive instead of CD.

Sounds theoretically plausible, but do not know if it will work.

If your CD player has a USB port, then sure. The latest pioneers/denons/etc can all work like that.

so, if you player can play off USB thumb drives and the timecode is in wav or mp3 format DVS will work with my TTM57SL?

the timecode needs to be in WAV format. You can grab it straight from serato right here: serato.com

yep tried it with my cdj 400 and it works perfect.

djkrazyleo, thank you for testing it out. were you able to test the latency for both mixing and scratching?

Can't wait to get me some players now. I plan on using just the USB connection to control SL on the platter. My guess is that the USB is going to be faster than the CD so Latency should not be an issue.

The difference will be neglible. CDs buffer anyways. CD players inherently have a little more latency then turntables due to the audio travelling through more things. In the grand scheme of things, we're talking a millisecond here and a millisecond there.

yae i did actually the latency is hardly noticable on both i was actually using hid mode with the 57 and the cdj 400 i,m gonna play around some more with it and see which i like better meaning hid internal mode are rel mode with the signal via usb.

Sweet, thanks. Oh, do you mind testing your setup with HID and amputee? Will that work or not? Now that I think of it, how would it work...

hmmm.

The jog wheels on that unit will not work to control the virtual decks in SSL as its not a natively supported unit. So.. no.. not really.
