How I use the Rane Sixty Eight's USB 5 Insert controls

What up fam,

Was bored the other day so I threw together a video of how I use the USB 5 insert to control the software effects on the 68. Peep the mappings I do and let me know how you do it!

i dig it.

i wish there was a way to turn off the filter knobs filter on the board. that way u can control more of the internal effects, ive talked to a few rane 68 owners, and non of them use the on board effects. sad

I use the on board effects reguarly...love em. I'd prefer a negative flange like the pioneers, but other than that, I like em

Looks cool... I assigned a little echo effect to my built in high pass filter... When I mix out using the filter, I get a bit of an echo out too... it's subtle, but sounds cool.

Thanks for taking the time to make the video, man.

I normally don't use the SL internal FX, the FX on the 68 sounds way better IMO.

BigWiz shows (well, not fully "how to" yet) how to route SSL audio through Ableton/Bridge and back with effects and all with just one USB... Watchvimeo.com

Super sweet! Look forward to hearing the how to:)

Mallon... I had a go with your method of using a return track but I found that this was only really good when using one effect.

What I then did was throw a few effects on my Audio track and then group the effects together in an effect rack.
From there, I mapped the wet/dry of each effect to the number 1 Macro on the effect rack and midi mapped the Macro 1 to the level/depth knob on the Sixty Eight.
I also mapped the on/off buttons for each effect to different buttons on the Sixty Eight.

This allows you to control the wet/dry of several effects with the one level/depth knob on the Sixty Eight and have control of which effect your using by turning on/off the effects.

Lovin it!

Niiiiice, great way to avoid having to manually switch out VSTs and such when you want to switch up effects.

Have you guys ever considered writing up a program similar to NI's Controller Editor that would let you change the way the buttons react?

I know you can cycle through the different modes when mapping in MIDI mode within SL, but how bout the actions of the lights? It'd be great to use the cue buttons in a different layer, where the lights would activate and deactivate with every click, similar to the flex fx.

Yes... I agree and, yes, this is definitely possible with this mixer.
I'll continue to talk to our engineers about this:)
