i know its been talked to death (scratching music videos), just would like to point out there is an increase in support for video in the new itunes. you can buy music videos now along with your music and have them in your itunes library or import them.
i don't really care for scratching videos music since i didn't buy ssl for that and would rather you guys concentrate perfecting vinyl emulation, but i know people are thinking about it so i just wanted to point this out.

ssl controlling video would make the pioneer dvj obsolete...esp at less than the price of ONE dvj, you could have a laptop AND ssl...hah...all you would need more of is HD space..and probably RAM.

video is a whole other bag of worms. if you think ssl hogs cpu, try decoding video and audio plus trying to manipulate which frames of video are displayed. you'd need a dedicated decoder card just to decode the video. then you have the issue of codecs... which would SSL support and what size resolution? windows media? DIVX? Pixlet? MPEG-4? not feasible with an ordinary laptop right now imo. that's partly with pioneer's DVJ is so expensive.

exactly, if they're going to the trouble to program it, maybe it should be a whole new package. i bought ssl just for being a damn good vinyl emulator. hope they keep tweaking it with that in mind.

This goes back to the SSL gold discussions. Serato and Rane should make a seperate product for video. Charge twice as much, I don't care. Just make it, don't make me go back to flipping discs with a pioneer dvj. I don't care if I have to use a purpose built desktop with multiple video cards. Just get it out there, because like the original SSL it will take many versions of it before it really kicks a$$. Might as well get started now.

If you really need to scratch video bad try mispinky. It actually does a good job with quicktime movies.
