When using the ctrl+F shortcut and finding a song, you have to press the Tab key twice to get to the song you want and then load it on the deckes. i think the attention should already be with the list of the filtered songs, and all thats left is to use the up, down, left+ctrl, right+ctrl keys and load it on the decks.

Good idea, but... right now SSL automatically updates the search resultst _while_ you type into the search field. So, you would need something like "enter" so that SSL nows youre finished entering the search argument, and then it should switch to the results. Cool.

I've been thinking about the "enter" thing for a while, so i'm glad someone else has brought it up.
When i'm spinning i usually find myself doing ctrl-f, typing somat in and then naturally hitting enter...then after its not done anything i hit tab twice to get to the song list - just as deccribed by Navdav.

I think the Up Down keys should do the work, without hitting the Enter.
but if you do it automatically bazildon, then i cant stop you :-)

Yep, I agree. And also, maybe we dont need the enter key as a key key anyway here ;) Just change SSL so that hitting tab from the search field brings you straight to the files of one crate, not the crate list.

I do it automatically cause that how finalcrash used to do it and cause pressing enter comes naturally after entering text.
As for Nik's point - I'm not sure that changing the tab order is the right way to go. the way the order is set at the moment seems correct to me. i.e, search field -> crates -> track list.
But as enter doesn't do anything in SSL at the moment i can't see why it would be a problem to have it mkae the focus jump from the search field directly to the track list without bothering the crates list.
...so nerrr! :)

Uhm, if you have entered a search string with CTRL+F then you will be automatically transferred to the all crate, which means you are interested in tracks which match the search criteria, regardless of the crate. So, it seems very logical for me that after entering a search string you should be taken directly to the search result.
Why do you see it different, can you pleas elaborate?

Agreed. Yeah, this thread is a few months old, but I just encountered this the other day. Seems more intuitive that if you search for tracks, then tab's next logical destination should be the tracks that were located. It's not a big thing, but it makes no sense for tab to go to crates after a search...

I'll see your "tab takes you to the tracks" (sounds like a good idea to me) and I'll raise you one "escape whilst in the search box exits the search".
So many times, I'll do the following sequence,
hit ctrl+f and type in a search term
without choosing a new track I want to use the cues or censor button
I press 1-0 or u,j and instead of getting a cue or a censor I just type characters into the search box
My first instinct is to hit escape to cancel the search but this just sends me to the "do you want to quit?" screen
Then even when you press no you are still in the search box and I have to use tab (doesn't make sense), or worse still, the mouse to leave the search box.

i love the search function, but when i hit the delete key...sometimes i accidentally delete songs from my crate or i delete a whole crate....what would be nice is if ssl can ask an 'are you sure...yes/no' to confirm deletion.

Has been solved with "ctrl" modifier which you have to press when you want to delete tracks from normal crates or delete crates.
hit ctrl+f and type in a search term
without choosing a new track I want to use the cues or censor button
I press 1-0 or u,j and instead of getting a cue or a censor I just type characters into the search box
My first instinct is to hit escape to cancel the search but this just sends me to the "do you want to quit?" screen
Esc takes you out of the search box now.
Tab after search takes you to the search results.
Acknowledgement. Everything covered.
