When I'm away from my tables, I'd like to setup and prep my tracks within SSL software on my off hours (like during my day job). Stuff like being able to audio scrub a little and pick marker points and label colors without the need to plug it in to SSL amp. It's not like it can be used with any other hardware anyways.

oh yeah, and can SSL import in and out points I put on tracks in itunes? that'd be helpful.

right click, get info then options tab. you can also adjust the volume there and other things. love to have it import it in since i keep my collection tight.

i have a lot of CDs that have skits, such as ugly duckling's "taste the secret" which i cut out and dont want to accidently play. these in and out points make the song the focus and can also help with cueing.

and is it just itunes that skips that part, or will all mp3 players acknowledge that?

itunes skips that part when playing and also when it burns a CD. it would make sense that ipod would skip it too, but i don't own one so i dont know. just try

hope you guys can implement it, sure beats editing mp3s to cut out stuff. and the volume adjustment would help too somewhat since itunes has a soundcheck feature i forget some files are really low. great job so far, i love the community support.

but it still copies the full file right? so if i had a 100mb mp3 @ 128kbps, and i set the start and stop time like 3 minutes apart, the ipod still stores the full 100mb file instead ~3mb worth of song.

* 5 gigs is still quite a lot of music if you use the ipod for its intended listening purpose (and not as an external HD) *
