ttm56 vs. new scratch mixers

NickB 3:48 PM - 1 May, 2005
Anyone got any opinoins on the new rodec and mackie scratch mixers. Im on the market for a new scratch mixer fianlly saved up the $$$. I am 99.9% sure im getting a ttm56 but the new rodec and mackie mixers look pretty amazing. The Mackie expecially.
Will they be superior to Rane or is the 56 the best choice? What do people think!?!?

both the mackie and rodec look like great mixers, but since they are brand new, you don't know how they will hold up. I've had my 56 for just over two years now and don't feel like I will ever need another mixer again. I don't speak for everyone who owns a 56, but I can say it is the best sounding and most reliable mixer I have owned.
I don't know rodec very well, but I've been using mackie mixers for about 6 years for live sound and have never had a problem...Plus the mic preamps will sound much better than most other mixers. The phantom power and fire wire options look really nice, but do you really need it? You know what you're getting with the Rane....Plus, girls like it when you have a 56 with matching SSL box!

the mackie won't be out until summer... probably july at the earliest.

yeah i hear what your saying. The new mixers havent been around for long or not at all so people dont know if there will be any problems. I cant help but notice that the Mackie looks perfect and has the best features. However i cant see mysel holding out to July to buy a mixer considering I sold my old one and dont have a mixer atm.

Can someone link me to the rodec mixer? All I see are the ones on the rodec site which look like absolute shit. Nothing on that site compares with ANYTHING that Rane makes.

I can't find anything on a Mackie mixer either.. Links please.

Ever since I got my 56 ... 4 years ago, I have become a "one mixer man". I just have not seen greener grass out there.
And the thing is built like a tank .. I have been unable to break this mixer. Get me one of those fake ones and in 2/3 months I will have tore them up really bad.

The competition is coming out with "RANE" like mixers but none of them really compares. RANE may be pricey but down the road it's worth it. I used to buy a mixer every year. I havent bought one in 4 yrs !!! Not even a fader !!

It built "RANE TOUGH" !

I dropped my 56 on to a slate floor (my bag failed me...and is now in the trash) and my 56 is still kicking hard!
The mixer had to fall about 5 and half feet before it hit the ground.
A friend of mine had Remy Martin spill into his 56 (2 years ago) and the mixer works like a charm. When it heats up you can smell the aroma of Remy fill the booth.
The 56 is a quality mixer that can take a lot of abuse.
It is definitely a smart purchase to make.

LOL

He should be thankful some drunkard did not puke on the mixer .... I magine the warm aroma in the booth when the mixer hits optimum operating temperature..

I can't wait to test the new Mackie, but I love my 56 to death. 56 for life.

Bozak and Urei mixers were also noted for this... built like a tank.
