Hey,
I bought an NS7FX on the 20st of December 2010. Therefore I have until about the 19th to return it for a full reimbursement.

Now I think I SHOULD return it since I heard that the new version of the series, the "NS6" is coming out and it seems to be much better. I personally find the NS7FX to look much more professional than the NS6. But the features of the NS6 seem to be better.

I also want to know, since the platters on the NS6 are touch sensitive, do the platters still spin and feel exactly like the NS7?

Please advise me on what should I do, get the NS6 or stay with my current NS7FX? I know not much people even laid their hands on the NS6 yet, since it doesnt release until March or April. But from what you have read, which do you all truely recommend?

Thanks alot!
Very appriciated, the quicker the response from yal, the better.

The platters are MOTORIZED on the NS7 which means they spin when the track is playing (assuming you turn it on) the NS6 does NOT have motorized platters. NS7 is a direct Vinyl replacement to digital "feel" to it, therefore, its like playing a technics 1200 or similiar, the NS6 does not, but both achieve the same goal of pitch bending and scratching once you learn how to properly use each system.

All I can say I is I have first hand direct knowledge of these facts. Nothing more.

Regards.

well u have to make a decision base on ur pros and con,
4 decks or 2 decks
spinning plattter or jog wheels

They both have the same features in Itch

The NS6 is not an upgrade from the NS7. If they would have put motorized 7" platters on it, then you could call it an upgrade. It's an upgrade if you have something like a VCI-300. Personally, I am not getting rid of my NS7 until somebody comes out with something that has motorized platters that is actually better than an NS7/V7, and it doesn't look like anything like that will be announced any time soon.

Exactly...It won't be Numark, it won't be Pioneer (spinning platters/price), most likely won't be Denon (price will be too high), and Vestax will probably botch it up. The NS7 is still a safe buy and will be for quite some time. If the NS6 had rotating platters, it might have added $300-$600 to the price. Not to mention about 10-20lbs of weight.

Hey Andrew,

I have moved this to the DJing discussion forum area.

Basically the NS6 offers 4 decks and is an analogue mixer also so you can connect other sources such as turntables or CDJ's. The NS7 on the other hand has motorized platters and is designed to replicate the feel of traditional vinyl more. I suppose it is up to you really on what you are mixing and how you DJ.

Im sure some of the other users here can offer some more advice :)
Evon 8:15 AM - 17 January, 2011
If you need a midicontroller you can scratch on I would go for the NS7. A house head like me would chose the NS6.

Also, for those of you that prefer to mix entirely in your headphones, the NS6 has "split cue". The NS7 does not.

And if you're hoping to connect turntables to the extra channels on the NS6, you'll be disappointed to find that those inputs are line-level only. Of course, you could always use a phono pre-amp to connect your turntables to that line-level input, but then your installation starts to get ugly.

To me (and i may be wrong) the NS7 is a digital replacment for turntables, the NS6 is a digital replacment for CDJs, so it comes down to which you prefer, turntables or cdjs
jamster????? 4:26 AM - 5 February, 2011
the ns7 is pretty much, a quick moving DJ controller, all in one, and
pretty much the ns6 is more of a blending type controller both of these controllers
makes an all in one 1200 mk deck, since the mks are so big, you can use your fingers
on top of the vinyl to lock blends

and the v7 is an upgrade from the ns7 because of the additions and digital output
jamster????? 4:45 AM - 5 February, 2011
pretty much i like the hype about the ns6 relaxation, house music all night long

but will they come with a 3 year warranty,

I agree with what you say on the line input about turntables. But to those of you with TTX turntables you can simply flip that turntable upside down and click your switch over to line, then your turntables will sound just fine with the new NS6.

Myself personally like both the NS7 and NS6 both very well built! I do favor the NS7 but only because of the spinning platter.I was a bit disappointed that Numark did not ad the spinning platter with the NS6 design. But that is only because I am a turntable DJ.

As far as the itch program basically the cheep lazy Serato Scratch live.
I personally think it needs some TLC,yes it works just fine but looks more like a classic atari game.
skratchworx 3:56 PM - 2 June, 2011
@MaDSKiLLZ - the middle 2 channels on the NS6 are line/phono switchable.
Anthoni 8:39 PM - 7 June, 2011
Ok DJ's let me pick some of your brains,

Im not a scratch DJ, infancy stages at best, im a mixer. Our company has been using a clunky mixer/CD deck/vitrual DJ/desktop comp/processor/amp/monitor set up for YEARS and im trying to snatch it into the new day.

I saw the ns7 last year when one of my mentors was in the area and fell in love. Just now about to get one and the ns6 is coming. I am going to work on more scratching but still primarily mixing....which one would you suggest between the two?

Preciate your thoughts
hobredwing05 4:16 AM - 9 June, 2011
Definitely the NS6 for what you are describing.
DjFloops 10:59 AM - 10 June, 2011
So gentlemen,if I am to follow the thread keenly enough, its safe to ascertain that scratch djs should choose ns7 and djs that focus more on beatmatching, mixing etc should use ns6?
Alex B 1:13 AM - 14 July, 2011
Hey everyone i have the NS7 and when i beat match i am used to putting my finger on the side of the platter to slow it down and line up the kicks when the BPM is the same..... but since the NS6 does not have motorized platters i cant do that so before i buy it i was wondering if i can still beat match by moving the platter or will i have to beat match a complete new way???

You can disengage the "scratch" button and move the platter to slow or speed up the music, or you can use the pitch bends on the actual unit, or "T-Y" and "GH"

I'm scratching okay on it, my problem is the opposite of Dj's who have dry hands and lick their fingers, my fingers slip a bit naturally on the metal platters so it's going to take some getting used to.
Alex B 1:27 AM - 14 July, 2011
thanks so much im excited to get my NS6 i appreciate the info DJ Shamann
Alex B 1:33 AM - 14 July, 2011
Also i was just reading some of the other posts and i see it says that the NS6 has "Split Cue" which the NS7 did not have.... Im only familiar with the NS7, so could someone explain what exactly is "Split Cue"???
Daktyl 2:34 AM - 14 July, 2011
split cue is where you can split the signal sent to your headphones. The track you're previewing or cueing up (meaning it's not going through the house system, only you can hear it) is going to the left channel, and the main mix (what everyone else hears on the dance floor) is going to the right channel or vice verse.... It's something every mixer should have, but most don't.
jamster????? 11:13 PM - 16 July, 2011
Only think i can say about the two controllers is why did numark put no analog filtes for digital out,
and they should have made at least 10 or more on board cue points, for break downs.
and the cross fader i talk about that later,

Come on people yall get a bombing mixer package and still complain,

yes both packages need to improve on their analog sound for scratch dj,

and i am not getting a ns6 until numark comes out with a controller with 10 cue points or more

NS6 V.S. NS7FX

the ns6 is the king over the ns7 because it syncs with computer software better.

but for total mixing down the v7 will blow them away because it has a separate mixer.
the v7 is more upgradable that both units ( mixer future upgradable) ha ha ha

but i always have workarounds to get more cue points in a song
Yo i really miss my numark cdx's
( know they have cue points.

but if yall really want analog sound sample your own tracks from vinly and dd high and low filters

peace

I'm a beginner Dj. I've been using virtual dj for like 5 or 6 months now and am having so much fun with it. I'm looking to get a controller, my first one and I'm 90% sure I want the ns6. But I can't decide for sure, the ns6, the Pioneer DDJ-s1, or the ns7. I love house, dubstep, electro, things like that. I'd like to learn a bit of scratching, but mostly just mixing.

I know this is all based on preference, but basically, out of the 3 controllers, which one would you choose and why?

Gracias

the numark ns6, because it has the platforms that you are looking for, like multi software base,
but read some reviews in the forums to make sure that your systems can handle the
powerhouse. even-though this is an all new feel of mixing .
check out (djeep)

NS6 ALL THE F***ING WAY! I've had my NS6 for a week now and i hate every second i have to spend away from it! But i'm mostly a electro/house mixer and i don't really scratch. i guess it just depends on the style of dj you are. i love my ns6 so much and it's a great deal for everything that it comes with!
dj kas 1:40 AM - 11 February, 2012
yah, NS6 is a killer unit. I have been spinning for over a decade and I used to be a vinyl purist... eventually I submitted to the weight that is serato. and out went my record collection replaced with time code vinyl. And then came the ns7, i was intrigued but not hooked... only 2 lines?! When the NS6 came out many of my prayers were answered. I was able to mix and chop 4 decks with ease, the learning curve is NIL for use, but the possiblities are endless! My only complaint for both units had more to do with itch and the lack of the bridge. but 3 deck mixing with a line reserved for ableton still works like a dream.
DJ GaFFle 3:22 PM - 11 February, 2012
Get the NS6. I have both but my NS7 is up 4 $ale.

Definitely NS6. Question: I have an NS6 and love it for mixing and beatmatching, however, I want to start using turntables in addition to the NS6. Now I know the NS6 is an analogue controller and isnt compatible with external devices, but, what if I used a Scratch live converter box for the 2 turntables and just connected the turntables to the C and D line channels of the NS6? Could that work?

yes that should work, as the ns6 is also a standalone mixer
hyphy03 5:26 AM - 23 May, 2012
Quick question. I'm buying one of these within the next month. From what I've read in here, I'm a little confused. Probably a really stupid question, but can I scratch with an NS6? I like to do a bit of both scratching and beatmatching.
Logisticalstyles 8:26 PM - 23 May, 2012
I love my NS7. It's excellent for scratching. Very close feel to my turntables.
Charles 1967 1:31 AM - 22 August, 2012
Which is better for mobile doing, the numark ns6 or 2 numark v7 and a mixer?

2 v7s and a mixers seems like that could be a lot to carry on mobile gigs. definitely lighter than turntables and a mixer. but not a light as the numark ns6.

please let me know you thoughts on overall which is a better mobile dj setup ns6 or v7
Panotaker 11:22 AM - 22 August, 2012
It all comes down to whether you want motorized platters or not, or if you need 4 channels or 2, or how much stuff you want to carry. What works for me, might not work for you.

I have the NS6 and use to own the NS7. I don't miss the motorized NS7 platters because they were too small to get busy with anyway at only 7". (nm) I never use the 4 channel capability of the NS6. I'm hoping they create the ability to disable channels 3 and 4.
