Question about BPM detection

When ssl detects the BPM of a song that changes tempo, does it take the average of the whole track, or choose the most dominant tempo and stick with that?
For instance, if I have a song that winds down at the end, will that give me a slightly lower BPM?

SSL will take the predominant tempo. Short sections of a different tempo should not effect the overall result.

Excellent. Thanks Bill. What about 'live' tracks that vary due to the human element, tracks with two distinct tempos, or just to play the devil's advocate-- a track that speeds up evenly from start to finish?
