(This suggestion was inspired by the AGIPRODJ video that showed SSL timecode and a movie clip dubbed onto a DVD and played on a DVJ-1000)

1.8 Current approach:

>>Load a song or video to a video/audio bank on each (L&R) deck.

Benefits:
>>play EITHER a music video or an mp3 (if you play an mp3, there is no video output)

My suggestion:

>>Have a Video/Audio bank AND and a Video Overlay bank on each (L&R) deck

Benefits:
>>assign an ambient video file to play while you have an mp3 loaded

>>overlay an album version music video over an mp3 remix of the same song

>>overlay a movie or tv show clip over a party break or scratch sample, etc...

>>overlay any video file over a (or parts of) music video if it contains explicit parts

>>Unlimited creative flexibility without burning tons of time editing video

>>The big time Video DJs using pioneers spend TONS of time in video editing programs creating video remixes. The ability to perform on-the-fly combinations between video samples and mp3s would be awesome.

i was thinking of something similar - i like!

another cool idea would be if you play a video on 1 deck, you could enter a mode where the audio would then be split and assigned to deck 1, and the video could be assigned to deck 2. instead of using knobs to apply effects assign effects to the turntable (as in the signal from deck 2) just use the turntable! then when you switch back to single turntable mode, the video would be in sync with the audio.

i would like to be able to assign any video clip to the current playing mp3 as well

i eould like to see a visualizer that you could run (like g-force style www.soundspectrum.com or like arkaosVJ www.arkaos.net ) that you could run with the mp3's when you dont have vid fle playing... that would be sweet

I think that is the idea described by LaJollaDJs.

This is one of the best ideas I have heard in ages!

Having a multimdeia background I know how much time it takes to edit and compress video, meaning the 1.8 release would realy only benifit those that can spend hours video editing.

With this concept.. video djing would instantly be made available to any DJ using SSL

Serato people: Is this techicaly possible?, or should we stop dreaming?

no the 1.8 release would benifit EVERYONE.... the video release would be the issue you are talking about... 1.8 itself WONT have video... video will be an add on app that you pay for that works with SSL 1.8.... at least thats what they have said

oooh...and if we could manipulate the ambient video while the mp3 is playing too...


oh...and maybe insert scrolling text on the output video too.
