DJ Bl3ND (guy wearing chuckie mask)

jwagner 4:33 AM - 24 November, 2010
I was just watching a DJ Enferno youtube video and dj bl3nd was on the related videos. I clicked and was shocked at the number of plays this guy got. The video I had clicked has close to 1,000,000 views. The Enferno video had less than 50k.

Dj bl3nd wasnt quite at trainwreck status based on his video but all he was doing was playing crooklyn clan after crooklyn clan edit.

My question: Please explain to me how wearing a mask and jumping around like an idiot gets this kid millions of views on his videos?

*runs to order Bill Clinton mask*
Doctorjon 5:06 AM - 24 November, 2010
Its the music thats why. Kids these days are all about rave parties and shuffling. They just wanna hear a nonstop electro mix.
jevo9 7:22 AM - 24 November, 2010
I think this was dicussed on dj fame or shame. Honestly i see nothing good or bad about this kid.
DJ TOGTFO 7:30 AM - 24 November, 2010
He used to play on Stickam. Good kid, but you can tell the way he plays that he's young.
Dj-M.Bezzle 3:56 PM - 24 November, 2010
i think it has more to do with with search tag criteria being better, i ALWAYS get vids of him when looking up anything DJ related, plus usually his youtube video capture pic for the video is one that makes you want to click on it to see what the hell its about. I know his vids have been linked through threads on this forum more than once

Sometimes its hard to tell how bad someone is when they're spinning electro. This video shows how horrible this guy is: pretending to scratch the crooklyn clan scratches, knob twisting for no reason, the whole 9 yards.

So let me get this straight. He sucks because he can't spin Hip Hop but can spin Electro just fine?

In this case, Armand Van Helden sucks.

Nah thats not what I mean. I said it's a lot easier to judge someones talent level when they're spinning hip hop rather than electro, just like its a lot easier to judge someones talent level when theyre spinning using two technics, a mixer and vinyl over something like the NS7.

Not saying anyones better than anyone by what they spin or what they use, its just easier to tell that they suck.

I think wagner means that phrasing and bar counts are a lot more important in hip-hop, rnb, old school, retro, etc.... Someone that isn't great on the decks can get through an electro/house set much easier than an open format set. Their true ability becomes more obvious as opposed to simply playing 128 bpm extended electro tracks with key-less outros and intros.

And what I'm saying is that just because someone can't spin Hip Hop but can spin Dance music doesn't mean that they're a bad DJ. Sorry, but DJing doesnt revolve around just Hip Hop.

I disagree. Anyone who spins electro or house is a horrible dj.

I started another reply, but would rather not waste my time. So I digress, Jesus Pose is the ultimate turntablist trick and can only be done by electro djs....

And yes, dj'ing does revolve around hip-hop, cause that's how it started. And no, the world doesn't revolve around house music, just your world.

not exactly. djing started when music was recorded and the first person played that recording for someone else. i'm a hip-hop dj at the core but lets be realistic. DJing is much bigger than the hip-hop scene and there are talented DJs in every genre.

besides, if guitars were invented for classical music, does that mean that even today, they revolve around classical music? that's just foolish logic.

Fair enough. The culture of dj'ing as we know it today (manipulating records and sounds on turntables) helped build hip-hop culture. That's more what I meant, I guess. Hip-hop and dj'ing go hand in hand, but they still can be mutually exclusive. I stand corrected.

Quote:

Hip-hop was made for turntables, not the other way around as I said. Logic fail indeed.

what was the point of all this?
DJ Alkemy 9:34 PM - 25 November, 2010
90 percent of what sells these days is gimmicky. Its just the world we live in. Ringtone rappers, Youtube celebritys, average DJ's with masks getting threads dedicated to them. I used to try and fight it but what the hell, that aint my world, will never be so I just shrug my shoulders at stuff like this and move the hell on.

Hating is one of the most overused words of all time.

You don't like something- you're a hater
You disagree with someone or something- you're hating
Your rightfully call bullshit on someone- you're hating

Judging by technical skills he sucks. There are videos were he plays a premade mix, never touches the turntables, and just dances with a mask.

If I wasn't a DJ, didn't know the technical aspects, and had an interest in electro I'd think he is pretty good.

I give him props by putting himself out there and consistently making Youtube videos. He also cashed in at the right time at the peak of the electro fad. Alot of DJ's here make excuses for not recording mixes but this bedroom DJ kid is blowing by all of us getting millions of views on Youtube and listens on Soundcloud.

I noticed that yesterday! His dj drops come out of nowhere but i was paying close attention an the serato waveforms and it looks like he is mixing live (except the one in the parking lot) i also give him props on his music selection and on his gimmick! DJ blend is your stereotypical dj, stereotypical electro and dutch music. I saw him at a gig once he fucked up like 3 times. I just honestly do not see why he gets the fame when he doesnt deserve it theres way better underground djs than him that should get that level of respect instead of this guy.

Bl3nd sucks but puts more work into marketing himself online than most DJ's. Talented and respected DJ's like Enferno, Vice, and Revolution make like 1-2 mixes a year. They spin at big clubs in Vegas and Miami but not everybody is going to make it to a their club gigs. Other than club gigs they give no other option to listen to them. Bl3nd is consistently putting out youtube mixes and millions are eating it up because they can listen/watch him anytime they want.

First of all please watch this video and inform me what he's doing with the left up fader while the cross fader is all the way to the right at 4:37.

jwagner 7:56 AM - 30 November, 2010
95% of Electro DJs-

1. Wow beatmatching is way too hard I'm over it.
2. I just wanna jump around and play music and get crazy
3. The bpms are so high if I just throw the track in randomly I've got a 25% chance of it sounding decent.
4. The strobe light and weird camera will distract everyone from how horrible I am.
5. Let me mess with the up faders on the opposite side of the deck thats playing so it looks like I'm doing something.
6. Let me twist some knobs when a track is in the break down.
7. Let me lick my finger and touch the turntable thats not being heard. I don't have my headphones on and I'm not looking at the wave form so I have absolutely no clue where the track is I just wanna make it look like I'm doing something.
8. I've seen djs grab the little metal spinning thing going through the hole of the record so I might as well do that too.

to the 5% of electro djs with talent. Don't get up in arms I'm not saying if you play electro you suck. I'm just saying if you do, there's a very good chance you suck.

I could be wrong... but to me it seems like he takes tracks that are already mixed... maybe his own, but probably not.... and edits them so that the drops are gone and puts his own in their. It sounds like he just chops the mixes up and puts them back together where they could fit.

Listen to this if you don't have it already... Summer Soundtrack 2009(on page 2 of dj mixes)

then watch this...

Most of it seems like a chopped and edited version of Alex Dreamz mix to me. I wouldn't hate just cuz he jumps around in a mask or has more views than Bill Gates has $$$, get your fame however you can get it... just don't take other peoples work and pass it off as your own.

If you can give me a logical explanation...I'd love to hear it.

That would be called djing. He checked that the crossfader was open at least 3 times before he used the left up.

Epic Twelve is dope. Unless you can post something (of yourself) that is miles ahead of what hes doing then you just sound jealous. Im sure since you already knew everything, you must not of felt the need to sign up on this forum till a month ago.

@pdidy I can understand you not liking the music selection and I can see if you personally dont scratch over house, but to call him 100x trash is just silly.

Sorry...but you're.... wrong. Cross fader is all the way to the right at 4:37 . No sound is coming from the left channel bud, yet he's jumping up and down and pushing the left up fader up and down like he's doing something so trying to correct me is a fail.

Nice try though. Yes I signed up a month ago. What does that have to do with anything lol. You're grasping at straws on that one.

LOL what i find hilarious is half of these posts are talking about how he cant mix and has horrible track selection, but it seems like hes just playing a edited version of alex dreams summer soundtrack......so does that mean you dont think alex dreams can mix and has horrbible song selection to??

I think they said he cant mix cause he is using someone elses mixes and not because it sounds like trash.

Aint seen the other vids of Epic Twelve but the scratching one is dope as hell. And to say you shouldnt scratch over electro is silly at best. The beat was pretty good IMO.
Diskjockeyvictor 6:46 PM - 30 November, 2010
Electro is way too over played now this whole electro movement is really getting me irritated its all djs play now thats why if im gonna spin house at a house party or something I spin minimal, tech, progressive and fidget house there are a few electro tracks all mashup with some minimal but those electro tracks are straight underground tracks.
jbnyc 6:52 PM - 30 November, 2010
Hey victor, can you please post a youtube video of each of those kinds of house please,im not really into that type of music but would like to know the difference, thank you..

1 minimal
2 tech
3 progressive

Sounds all the same to me haha
Diskjockeyvictor 7:05 PM - 30 November, 2010
Sounds but they have slight variations minimal and tech house are alot alike tho
DJ Alkemy 7:08 PM - 30 November, 2010
I get ya. I liked that EDX track, kinda funky. I used to like a bit of US Garage (think thats what it was). Thet used to have club nights in the UK called L'America that played a lot of soulful sounding house that I really liked. Plus I love Kings Of Tomorrow-Finally but that is probably a whole different genre lol
jbnyc 7:19 PM - 30 November, 2010
Thanks Victor, hot tracks! Hart to tell them appart tho, and none would work on any of my clubs :S i guess ill stick around my old plain electro house remixes XD
Diskjockeyvictor 7:28 PM - 30 November, 2010
no problem dude i enjoy playing minimal, tech is because the chances of anyone at the party or club havent heard that song from another dj i have so many bangers that alot of them arent event on youtube that people come up to me telling me that that was the sickest set they have ever heard and that they have never heard any of the songs of played ever haha. Thats why i see djing as an art and i wanna be diffrent from all the other djs.

I feel you bro what i do if im doing mobiles and they request songs like shots or something like that ill do a mashup with the song there requesting. It all depends on the age of the crowd as well i do weddings for money and stuff so ill just play the songs they wanna hear and thats it just so i can get my money and get out but my name around my area is known for the diffrent type of music i play so if i get a request for to start playing some electro from some random person ill straight up tell them no haha and the people at the party will back me up.

YOU'RE MISSING THE POINT HERE!!
Somebody had pretty solid proof, that "the Guy wearing Chuckie mask" is taking other DJ's work, chopping it up and presenting it as HIS OWN!

And this doesn't concern you?

Instead this turned into "oh-house/electro-DJs have no technical skills"-debate?

C'MON SONS!

Electro and house are much more than the car-alarm/dog-whistle-sounds-on-acid -tracks. Pull out your head from the ground and THINK for a sec. If you don't like a genre, then fine, stay within the your comfort zone. But if you bother to dig around you'll find A LOT of good music.

OH! And by the way, go to a Dubstep/Jungle-gig, last saturday I saw crowd-surfing 5 times, when Bar 9 and Roksonix were here. 5 times, no joke. Talk about high energy.

LOL they made a Blip-Bloop-Blop version of the airhorn! I'm sure some of you guys LOOOOVE that ;p

As for the fader I think it's the angle, it's an older 57 with the triangle arrow pattern on the fader and if you look it doesn't really look like the full arrow is to the left of the fader (indicating the fader being slammed to the right). I don't know if you own the 57, but they only have to be open a cunt hair to get full sound while on fast mode.

Another thing you can see is the left deck spinning with a loop on it, he's using that for the channel fader hits, and right before the track comes in full, he hits one of the B buttons to either unloop, or cue point to the track start.

I literally woke up 20 mintues ago and wiping the sleep snot out of my eye while having a morning beverage, so my eyes aren't sharp right now and may be missing something, but that's what i see from looking at it.

Watchwww.youtube.com Watchwww.youtube.com

Most of it seems like a chopped and edited version of Alex Dreamz mix to me. I wouldn't hate just cuz he jumps around in a mask or has more views than Bill Gates has $$$, get your fame however you can get it... just don't take other peoples work and pass it off as your own.

Quote:

It's not, while the first 3 tracks in Chuckie's mix are suspect because of the order in which they appear (it would seem as if he rmoved a couple of tracks from Alex's mix) but you can hear during the 3:30 mark of Chuckie's mix, the break down of the Jakz track "I've got the power" he is mixing in "How I like it" and you can hear the back beat before he switches, in Alex's mix at that same breakdown there is now mixing because he let's trck run. Then of course that same Jakz track is not in Alex's mix, Chuckie also plays Static Revenger which automatically popped out to me because I'm digging the Luciana stuff lately, Alex doesn't play that at all, nor does he play any of the following tracks in Chuckie's mix, just the beginning 3. Also, speaking of the beginning 3, Chuckie plays a different piece of the Afrojack "Make Her Say" then Alex, entirely different piece.

So if this kid is guilty of anything, it's that he's playing popular tracks that the older name Dj's are playing, but what 14 year old doesn't?
Dj Shamann 9:48 PM - 30 November, 2010

I don't think so, because if you watch when he doubles the time, the high hats only hit every second fader hit indicating that it's probably on the other record.

Regardless, which sound is not the point it's the technique that he's using. jwagner, it's probably not as evident because he's just blending two hits at once. If you look at the 5:20 mark he brings the beat back in on the same channel with it being more obvious this time around. Between you not being familiar with the 57, and him putting on an exaggerate workout show during points where he's only just cueing shit is where you may be getting confused.

And I'm not jealous of these clowns. I share the same sentiment with you. I don't like the way these types of djs are being sought after. I didn't get into djing to have this trash be the pinnacle of a successful career. "Oh you're just hating cause he's more popular than you..worry about yourself"- No. that's not the reason at all. DJ Vice is a very popular dj. I don't hate on him. He can back his popularity up with skills.

I'm sick of people giving these people a free pass. They suck. They should be called out for what they really are. They are not djs, and I can't stand to be grouped into the same category as these people when I call myself a dj.

For just a kid he sure knows how to hustle and get the views he needs, then again check out his tags on his vids, he's crediting all the artist. As for him mixing it looks pretty live to me in this video. His mixes to me seem pretty clean then again it's not very hard to spin fidget house. Here he is w/o the mask and mad fist pumping. His videos are entertaining and it kinda just sucks you in w/ his strobe light and crazy energy. He's not faking the funk that's certain.

i think your find that what we call DJ'ing started on the disco scene.
the 1st guy to use 2 turn tables is a old odd uk dj called jimmy savile

so DJ'ing is a UK invention not US like you all think.

Obviously the "haters" got to you or you wouldn't spend your time saying whassup.

Seriously, this is the lamest excuse that you always see on Hip Hop boards from so called "fans" of somebody getting roasted (AKA the actual person getting roasted). "I kame akross this" sure you did buddy. How? I Googled your boy..excuse me, I Googled you and nothing points to this place, how could you possibly know it existed unless you already had an account or one of your Dj buddies told you that cats were roasting you in here?

I don't have a problem with the videos, I think they were actually a good idea to get you out there, but give people a little more credit than handing them this bullshit "I kame akross this" BS. If you came in here telling the truth people would give YOU more credit.

And the proof is before you came in here with this nonsense I was a supporter, but now I'm questioning that.

I know this.
I started when I was 15.

I didnt get 1/16th of a clue (in retrospect) of what was what until I was 22.

If I had either the energy and niche of bl3nd,
(nevermind pulling 2 dimes into your bedrrom to dance 1/2 nekked while you BEDROOM MIX, ERRR HELLO, "dear penthouse forum...."
or the cuts that epic12 has, and his mixing isnt bad by no stretch.

true the internet has made the learning curve virtually instant.
but certain cuts and shit still take practice....and lots of it.

Theres a new breed coming. we have to come to terms with that.
whether we hate it, love it or whatever...its happening.
I think if these dudes stick with it (just like we did when we were young and wack)
in 5 years were going see some wild shit from them.

its 1 thing if u have a gimmick and your horrendus...
and as far music goes, argueing taste in music is like arguing taste in food.
its all relative to the person listening.
theres plenty of stuff out there I personally think is absolute shit.
but someone loves it, and they cant be wrong for that...as wack as it might be ;)
Djaward 10:01 PM - 7 April, 2011

So let me get this straight. He sucks because he can't spin Hip Hop but can spin Electro just fine?
I think he's doing his thing ,and he gets the hits is because alot of kids think the same. hey if it works dont fix it.

If thats what generates 21 million plus hits then its a sad state of affairs. He sounds like a cool guy by all accounts but we are in the age where people get props for the most lamest shit ever. I would give him props if he made me sit up and take notice of the way he mixed a track or done some shit to be proud of. Its like them media obsessed, no talent, z list celeb women getting their tits out at every opportunity and generating silly amounts of column inches. While they might be proud of this "achievment", I certainly aint impressed. Same goes with this guy.

ya but...isnt that the point, think about it. Electro\house\trance ect ect djs are just mixing 4 on the floor beats, im not dissing the music, its my passion, but it is what it is, props for adding something extra to the show, in the end we are all SUPPOSED to be ENTERTINERS. Our long term goal should be to entertain the crowd. If you have to put on a mask to do it so be it. We live in an age were tech has made EVERYONE at least an average dj and everyone has access to the same songs. I see his mask as no different as scratching when it was invented.....a way to distinguish yourself from the others

take away the mask and the strobe lights and all the jumping around and what do you get....an average DJ. there are plenty of other DJ's on you tube that have waaaaaaaaaay more talent but yet they get very few views in comparison. (check out the Crane battle)
You put blend on you tube without all the jumping around and he gets no where near of views and hits on you tube. he's got a really good gimmick but nothing special other than that. But thats what it is now a days. you got a gimmick to hide your talents you are popular.

i "THINK" what he's saying would slipknot be the band everyone knows i they didnt the theatrics....or Kiss....
we'll never know.

it didnt work that well for gwar...

this is exactly what I'm saying. The guys in Slipknot are extremely talented musicians. Whether or not you like them their level of technical ability is off the charts. Same thing with Gwar....and while they never reached the level Slipknot or Kiss did, they're still touring and packing mid sized clubs out. But when these bands came around, it was mostly musicians that were talking about technical ability. The average concert goer was spreading the word about the crazy band with makeup and masks with the insane stage show... I'm not saying Bl3nd's skills are analogous to Slipknot as far as technical ability goes, but he's decent. He's also young and seems to be very enthusiastic. In time he could be really sick. Yes, take away the mask, the strobe, and the hot half naked chicks and you have another kid mixing in his bedroom and posting vids on youtube.... but he did those things and got MILLIONS of hits.... He found a gimmick, it worked, he's established his brand and has name recognition. All that added to that the fact that respected members on this forum have met him and say he's a cool kid should be enough to earn him a little respect even if it is just for his hustle.
DJ Alkemy 7:30 PM - 11 April, 2011
Thats what I'm saying. On a personal level he sounds like a cool person but I will never be impressed about an average, gimmick strewn video that skill wise is no better than what I see in my local club. I don't care how many views it's had,if it ain't doing anything worth checking on a dj level then why should I be impressed.

Your rhymes are not up to par, you fake superstar
And that really gets on my nerve
When a rapper gets the credit that he don't deserve
Goin platinum and don't have no soul
Some rappers are mad nice and don't even go gold
I don't like the way it's goin down

Why do you guys keep calling the music he plays ELECTRO??? It is not ELECTRO at all!
Because DJ bland calls it that? This is all 4 on the floor stupid party music related to NRG. Electro is something else. Are all of you younger than 30?
DJ Sniffles 1:34 PM - 11 May, 2011
It's Electro House. Feel better? Although I heard this awesome Mantronix remix. What genre would that be?
Whitmore Baggs 1:43 PM - 11 May, 2011
Not really. Who is the moron that decided it was anything like electro or house? Track the history of musical genres and you will discover that the tracks dj bland plays STUPID HOUSE, "pretty interchangeable with Nu-NRG, except where Nu-NRG is hard and driving every once in awhile, Stupid House (better known as UK Hard House for reasons unknown as it sounds neither hard nor housey) is just retarded. It's probably the offbeat bass stabs that lend credence to its defining 'stupid' sound. And the horn fanfares, making it sound like silly circus music. And the crowd cheering samples, which make it seem cheap and gimmicky. But where other party music (Happy Hardcore, Eurodance) has a self-aware, tongue-in-cheek affability, Stupid House here legitimately tries to pass itself off as something serious and genuine. Like actual contentious music. A chip-on-its-shoulder, more-hardcore-than-thou ethos, something so laughably ridiculous even Gabber House looks cooler in comparison. Pretending to be what it's not makes this whole genre fraudulent and insulting to those who just want to have a good time. And that's before you see how the kids dance to it. Stupid House is the bargain bin of electronic music. It also encompasses those signature-melody tracks that are always packaged in 'BEST CLUB ANTHEMS EVER' compilations, like The Launch, which are the musical equivalent of junk food." from Ishkur's guide to electronic music...

sorry if I am in tune with the details of electronic dance music? Blend is a fake who uses votebots to get views and comments, cant mix and plays the most obvious trash I've ever heard. The votes are fake and the comments are fake too. Most come from dead youtube accounts that kids registered and then forgot about. If it all sounds like techno to you then why would you even bother to be discussing dj stupid house? If you believe what you see on youtube you're being gullible.

well, okay one more just to explain to you. there is no way that more people than live in all of NYC or LA have watched that stupid mix of crappy music and lackluster mixing skills. He cheats using a program that automatically drives up the viewer-ship and even makes fake comments. Then it becomes viral as a side effect and gets even more views. Its the same way so many bad DJs get voted up on mixmag or dj magazine. Research a little you will see. I didn't mean to sound so trolly. www.ravelinks.com

REAL DJ'S AGAINST DOUCHEBAGS - OFFICIAL FACEBOOK
OUR EXCLUSIVE TOP 30 MOST QUESTIONABLE DJ/ARTISTS

Created by VON DOUCHE and the members of Real DJ's against Douchebags.

Updated: May 8, 2011

The list of 30 has become quite popular in recent weeks. We compiled the list from various Youtube videos which have been collected and posted for your enjoyment. The list is unbiased. We are not "haters", we just expect and demand so much more then any of you have been giving. O.K. we hate BL3ND. But everyone else we just dislike because of the varied methods of "Fronting" we have witnessed behind the decks. It was time for someone to stand-up and say something. And while you all aren't as bad as terrorists, you are ERRORISTS. Making too many mistakes in a scene which knows better.

And now without further ado:
Top 30 with Video Confirmation:

1) DJ BL3ND

DJ BL3ND UNMASKED: Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ It's time to put this joker to rest. ]]]

[[[ BL3ND figured out how to get 30+ million views on Youtube. That makes him dangerous. To me, to you and everyone else in the scene. It's like we have been replaced with millions of imbeciles who don't know any better. ]]]

2) DJ PAULY D
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ This is tragic. The guy is tone deaf. If there is anything good which could be said for MTV Jersey Shore star Pauly D, it should be noted that a kid from Rhode Island with minimal skill and talent somehow commands the most money per gig eclipsing Tiesto the same way Tiesto did Sasha & Digweed just a decade ago. ]]]

3) STEVE AOKI
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ Steve believes he is the second coming of the Messiah and in California it works in part due that his Dad is the Iron Chef. Celebrity DJ's have it easy, they can play garbage music and have friends like Lindsey Lohan, and people respect that. Steve is probably the only person on earth who can use Lindsey Lohan to his advantage. Even Ronson doesn't get extra credit for that. ]]]

4) SKRILLEX
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ Sonny. Appropiate name for Mau5trap artist Skrillex. Molded from the same team which made Deadmau5 as big as anyone so far mentioned, Sonny has mad some great music, it's just the multiple temper tantrum laptop crashes like the one in the video which give him such a high honor. Well that and the slipping on the imaginary banana peel in front of 2000 people who paid to see you bust your ass and not much of anything else. ]]]

5) SPINNAFACE
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ SPINNAFACE has a spinna for a face. Somehow three of our Top 10 wear things over their face which seems to be a trend Daft Punk started many years ago. While wearing a rim over your face makes you a rim job and quite able to lose your head in the middle of a set in Trenton, Newark or Paterson New Jersey, this while being quite creative would only be worse if BL3ND teahes him the bot programs to gain 30 million views. ]]]

6) TOMMY LEE
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ Tommy Lee isn't really a DJ, and we shouldn't single out his DJ, DJ Aero because Aero happens to be a nice guy, down to Earth and does play good tracks when he puts his mind to it. But it's Tommy Lee's persistant attitude to borrow Joel's Mau5 head and throw his Rock Star sh*t in the mix which results in a #6 position. ]]]

7) DEADMAU5
Watchwww.youtube.com
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ In the span of three years, Joel who wears the Mau5 head has grossed somewhere between 50 & 100 Million dollars which like Pauly D, throws Tiesto into weird space. Only because nobody ever thought anyone would make more then 20 million from being a puppet. At least this time around this one wears a puppet head which actually symbolizes our current generation of kids in the scene. And yet you will never see Joel in a good mood. Always complaining via Twitter about something retarded. See what money does? ]]]

8) TIESTO
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ Tiesto which never was anything special as a DJ has made more money then anyone doing the same exact thing. The reason Aoki will never be the second coming of Christ is because Tiesto actually has been walking on water for over a decade now. Still didn't stop Reebok from selling The Shawn Carter (Jay-Z Edition) to Europe in fruity colors as the "Tiesto" edition, but that was one way we got the last laugh. ]]]

9) BRYAN PORNSCORE
Watchwww.youtube.com

[[[ Pornscore has a van which says "Free Candy" on it. A 1976 Econoline where he tells youngin's PLUR, "Would You Like Some candy"? While this cannot be confirmed nor denied Pornscore turned San Diego into one of the most useless scenes in America. And who else could do that? ]]]

HAHA look at this guy using Ishkur's guide as the bible for EDM. Dude did you just start Djing or do you just not have a sense of humor?

That whole site is tongue in cheek, a joke. How could someone who obsessively quotes the site as law not have read the disclaimer?

Quote:
This guide is a non-technical, irreverent critique of electronic dance music. Its purpose is to entertain before it informs. I suppose it could be used as a credited resource or educational primer, but that's not reccommended since I made most of it up. Several biases here are celebrated lavishly, because downcasting people for their taste in music is close-minded. Except if their taste in music sucks.
Dj Shamann 5:44 PM - 11 May, 2011
And then you go quote another whole page started by someone else. Do you not have any opinions of your own? Or are you just a poser who waits for other Dj's to tell him how to think and play?

Yeah I know Ishkur is a funny dude, and a lot of it is tongue and cheek, agreed, but there is truth in humor. The list was compiled by a group of over 250 DJs that actually have an ear and give a shit. We are the underground. We are adults. We think alike. We are watching and we have become disappointed with the global dance music scene. This list was voted on, edited and re-edited. I have played in New York City clubs and easily have over 1000 gigs under my belt. I was just curious how rotten the core has become. When DJs fake their viewers-ship. You guys are all upset because you emulate a 15 year old fake.

I think nascar is for rednecks, hillbilles and clan members.
I cant even watch it for a millisecond.

but theres a few billion people that will argue with me otherwise...and will I stand
there and say, no YOUR wrong, it is trash...probably, because Im stubborn.

point is, and its been beaten to death in a billion different instances, Art, Theatre, Music, Fashion... even the US supreme court ruled;
you can not argue taste...its all relevant to the person listening.
and arguing that preference doesent exist on that level is moronic, because by doing
so you are exercising the same proclimation of taste that you are detesting.

A votebot is an automated program which will automatically vote for you. Doing this manually would be tedious. A votebot could do this, say using visual basic and excel. The program would look something like this:

'Get 1st Vote
SendKeys "%{Tab 4}", True
Application.Wait (Now + TimeValue("0:00:2")):
SendKeys "^f", True
Application.Wait (Now + TimeValue("0:00:01")):
SendKeys "Vote as B~", True
Application.Wait (Now + TimeValue("0:00:01")):
SendKeys "{ESC}", True
Application.Wait (Now + TimeValue("0:00:01")):

Once on the screen for voting for a Best Answer, the above program when run would select a Best Answer and give you 1 point.

Quite easy to do when you know how. As for detecting it, I doubt it possible.

same thing, she paid $2000 for these dudes to record her song. She didn't write it. I am sure they use a votebot. The arguers are real, meaning that some votes are real. What percentage of viewers bother to comment? Believe me, I tried to listen with ears unclouded by hate, but both black and blend are talentless hacks.

I think it's a case of the blind leading the blind. Electro is an 80's phenomenon that came from breaks. Afrika Bambataa and dudes in detroit like Model 500 were some of the first. House music is from Chicago originally. Around 2000 this electro-clash stuff came out that used some of what was found in electro tracks (synths and timbres) with other beat styles and some disco influences thrown in. Then when Berlin made a move on the Minimal tip albeit Laptop Minimal, (if you listen to the Doepfer style minimal of the mid-90's you will hear a more rugged minimal detroit stye. Electro as a word in Europe for the most part translates to Electronic. The Dutch have a nice encapsulated scene that propels itself with no outside help, but with very little vinyl and almost all Internet distibution, downloads and illegal copying mixed with all the bedroom folks flooding the system with subpar engineering skills, and all those idiotic pop song remixes...People want attention. If they can't be original then what? They go for gimmicks, like chucky masks and circus sounding music for kids that exchange they medicine. I am sure I could be a little more articulate about this but I think i may be talking to myself.
I completely understand how new genres come and go. I just hope this one goes. Away.

You ain't making any sense with a comment like that. Guillermo Peralta (blend) plays prerecorded sets of shitass music for 18 and under crowds while misrepresenting MGM Studios' Intellectual property. He is way way up on the list of douchebags ruining the dance music scene. Funny you should mention movies since he is stealing hid identity from one of the largest movie studios. Hate to see the lawsuit for copyright infringement that he is about to get slapped with. No why don't you go back and watch your Barney videos and drink your Sunny D kid.

I think it's important to seperate his youtube videos from his live performance. I've never seen him play live but I dont think a youtube mix necessarily has to be performed live. Would you think a music video sucks because they aren't really performing in it?

Well because what he is presenting to his audience via youtube is not necessarily a representation of his skills but rather a finished product, like a music video. It is not a live performance piece and it is not like he is going to mess up then post the mess up video like in a real performance situation.
DJ Alkemy 5:12 PM - 6 June, 2011
So why has he got his decks and that set up then?....He is twisting knobs and pretending to mix so in my book, he is decieving people by having pre mixed music playing. He sucks balls anyway so I couldnt give a shit either way lol.

I've heard from his live performances that it's simply short mixes that he then mixes together. I.E. plays a 15 minute mix he made then switches over to the next 15 minute mix, and so on and so on. I've heard from DJs and ppl that have seen him live and that's what I've basically gotten out of them. I know one DJ personally that asked him for a request and as he was asking he realized he was playing a mix during a peak time, track said something like 18 minutes left on it lol. Not sure if he does it all the time, but the only time i would ever play a mix is for like the first 30 minutes im at a club if I'm there the entire night...but the second 10 or so people are around I'm all live

I was having this discussion with a friend the other day...I ended the conversation with the perfect comparison.

If you was at a bar and you asked for a drink would you rather have the bartender simply make you the drink? Or would you prefer that he danced over to the fridge, pointed to everyone at the bar, possibly danced a little more, reached into the fridge, grabbed a premade drink....proceeded to dance back to you, and hand you your drink.

I personally would just want to skip all the dancing premade bullshit and get my drink already
O.B.1 8:12 PM - 6 June, 2011
one could easily assume that he obviously isn't confident in his own skill level to resort to relying on pre-mixes for a live set, or even a youtube video for that matter.
-or else he's just seriously lazy... (like alot of these other younger cats us old schoolers complain about)

I have more respect for someone performing live without a net (even with a few mistakes) than a flawless pre-recorded set being faked while pretending to go through the motions.

Thats a bad example though because it all depends on the variables, 1st off if my bartender was a girl yes i want her to dance and move around, and yes ill be ordering the drink on the bottom shelf of the fridge

I would give a shoutout to Justin Beiber if it would get me some fans along the way :P

But anyways to be honest I will continue to hate until I see something from him that makes him worth having that many fans. Until then I will consider him a youtube star rather than a DJ.

Hopefully he gets better over time considering that he is young...but at the same time youth is starting to be less and less of an excuse nowadays. Look at Lil Jon's son, actually puts his own edits, etc on his soundcloud so thats how I know he is putting time into his craft. And the way he dances...thats mostly techno and shuffling-_- and the jumping is just 2 get the viewers pumped...i've been to many of his shows and he is truely amazing.
and yes he does all this because it fits into a rave scene because he plays at raves...duh!(: lol
tiggers 10:09 AM - 16 June, 2011
Ye, but you make it sound like no is allowed to have a negative opinion of dj blend. Like it or not people are allowed to dislike him if they want to, just as much as they are allowed to like him as well. You cannot try and imply, that people are not allowed to dislike him. If people don't like him thats up to them, and theres not much you can do about that.
Jsavino 11:55 AM - 16 June, 2011
my question is why hate on someone? because you dont have a youtube clip with 2 million views? he found something that works and you guys will find anything to hate "oh he cant mix" stfu hate him or love him you are still talking about him and thats all that matters

Lol, exactly why I said earlier that I will look at him as a youtube star rather than a DJ. I highly doubt people would see him anywhere if he was to have made his videos:
-w/o mask
-w/o dancing
-actually mixing live during most videos
countless people have done the same thing as him but without those qualities and they aren't stars

WHY?????????????. WE HAVE FREE SPECH WHETHER YOU FUCKING LIKE IT OR NOT.

hey come on why. if people want to like him or hate him thats their choice isn't it? not you'res.
tiggers 1:54 PM - 16 June, 2011
Sorry about my language in my replies. However, people have to accept that whilst some people will like him not everyone will and its their right to express a negative opinion of him should they so wish.
DJ Alkemy 3:00 PM - 16 June, 2011
I think we all got that lol
tiggers 3:03 PM - 16 June, 2011
Ok, fair enough. But what annoys me is the fact that a lot of people are trying to say its wrong to dislike dj bl3nd. And yes while some people will like him others may not, and if they dislike him thats up to them isn't it and they should be allowed to express their opinion. Anyway, I am not going to say anything more on this issue.

the thing about free speech....

it goes both ways.

just as much that someone can profess their love for the spice girls, just as someone can announce
how much they detest them, it also allows everyone on the internet to tell them both to go
fornicate with their mother in an outhouse for having either opinion, or even existing in the first
place.... you can say what you want, when you want, about what you want.

but so cant everyone else.

well check him out in youtube , the mask idea kinda cool , wont do it though coz it would be like hell playing like that for 3 hours (the heat inside the mask must be like crazy) , as about his music , well not really my cup of tea but theres a market for it

i dont see any reason why a lot of dudes hate on this guy ? hes just trying to be different , and he makes it ok right ? as far as his live performance i dont know coz i havent see him live, maybe if he change his music to something edgy and started to produce wicked original stuff , this kid can go Global i think

Alkemy just posted his page above and it had his newest video. If your saying that his latest video is something different than what other DJs are doing...yes I would agree with you on that. But if your saying that THAT video is steering us in a good way? I would definitely have to disagree. To be 100% honest if my managers wanted me to dance in front of 3 girls for a video I would honestly decline it unless if there was more to it than just that....to me it just looks corny

And out comes the hater card, yet again... because that worked so well in this thread already, might as well try again. Seriously, what are you a 15 year old girl on Myspace? "Dizlikez: HaterZ lulZ"

It's like the defense mechanism of the weak, the modern equivalent of "I'm rubber you're glue".

First, it's called an opinion, we're allowed to have one and it has nothing to do with our personal feelings towards another individual, especially if we don't even know that individual. It's like you think calling someone a "hater" will suddenly make them stop, as if you've called them a racist in front of the group. Seriously, is that the best you can think of when you don't like what somebody says to you, you might as well do like many before you on the internet and bring up nazis because it's just as cliche and just as uncreative.

Secondly, if you weren't so quick to pull the "hater card" like so many others who can't handle an opinion, and actually read back the thread, you'd see that I was defending the kid the whole way through, however that doesn't change the fact that when I heard the track the first thing I thought of was being chased by a mosquito.

Haters, SMH. You're a grown man, smarten up.

DJ Alkemy 11:45 PM - 16 July, 2011
I really dont hate anyone. I just love music and if something aint up to par (I know that tastes can differ before you say it) then I think I have the right to say it without getting labelled a hater. The thing I love when you read comments by some Bl3nd fanatics is how they say things like "Im a Bl3nd fan for life". That just shows you the mentality, and probably the age of some of these people.
DJ Garebear 12:33 AM - 17 July, 2011
True that everyone is entitled to an opinion but at the same time there is definitely a difference between disliking someone and hating. Disliking simply meaning that they are not for you, not your cup of tea, but w/e they are doing their thing and I'm doing mine. While hating means that you completely disagree with their motives and what they are doing, in your opinion they should immediately stop.

To hate on someone that apparently looks like they are trying to approve in their market (rather than simply ride the gravy train) is unnecessary, the person is trying and this is their first shot at it...haven't we all made a first original track before (and if you haven't even made a track and your in this discussion you better be a damn good live performance then)?

Sorry to pull out the hater card earlier but if you look up in the discussion I was clearly a fellow hater myself, and also I was apart of the discussion (I tend to read the whole thread before I jump in)...to say that I am one of those guys that instantly pulled it out (giggidy) in the past is different considering that I've argued on both sides of the situation.

Didn't mean to get anyone's blood boiling just stating my opinion :)

You even have club promoters using the word hate, what is the world coming to. When will you ever realise that if we love the craft of what we are doing we are always gonna have a point of view on it when someone is bastardising it. That is the same in any artform. Ii really makes no difference to me or most people if you fly him on your private jet to a gig. Me, because I have never or never will be, interested in being a club DJ. I just think his mixing on a lot of videos was awful and the track he done was rubbish too. Hate, no, opinion, yes. And promoters like you going to such extravagent lengths to book an average DJ is no different to why we have the likes of Souljah Boy becoming a star.
echa1945mf 8:55 AM - 17 July, 2011
LOL im not saying that i really2 gonna book him , i said when he become a global sensation and better music , who knows ? all im saying is not everyone is a turntablist who knows how to manipulate sounds live using complicated tricks and techniques,so they dont know how to scratch so what that doesnt mean theyre average

some people choose different ways to express themself in music , and if it works it works , personally Bl3nd's music is nothing special , just cheesy electro stuff (from what i heard in youtube),unless his music evolve in a way of something special he MIGHT be global , he keeps his music rightnow hes only gonna be a gimmick , unless he can properly use his spotlight now to evolve his music

standing managing club events i cant be picky , i dont like trance , but i booked Tritonal (a US artist so you guys maybe can be familiar with that name) and they rock the hell out of a 4000 people capacity club with only 2 cdj's and a mixer , i hated brostep but almost book skrillex (didnt got the date though)

all im saying is , at the end what matters is the music , mask no mask , turntables ,CDJ's or Midi's
DJ Alkemy 9:02 AM - 17 July, 2011
Quote:

Exactly. As a DJ who loves the craft as an artform, its a bit more than just the music. And when a DJ wearing a silly mask, dancing around like a kid on too much fizzy pop puts a video up on Youtube of his mixes then he gets judged solely on that, his mixing skills. Of course as a club promoter he may appeal to your demographic but thats another argument. On here, its all about the skills, no more no less
jbnyc 5:56 PM - 17 July, 2011
well... skills or no skills, the kid is still popular! i dont know if theres a hip hop dj with enough skills to have 35k + views of his own production in the first week, just to make it clear, im NOT defending dj blend, i just think that if you are a hip hop dj you shouldnt be giving your reviews on electro house/dutch whatever that mix is lol someone said he had a headache from listening that track, well maybe is not your cup of tea! i would rather watch cars rust than attend a paul mccartney concert, yet he sells out stadiums 3 days on a row on every city he goes.. just my $.02

1: i dont know if theres a hip hop dj with enough skills to have 35k + views of his own production in the first week

Its not skills that gets you 35k views, its popularity. Hell, that Friday song blew up and there was not an ounce of talent involved in that track.

2: I just think that if you are a hip hop dj you shouldnt be giving your reviews on electro house/dutch whatever that mix is

Why not?. I still know if a mix is on point or not, regardless if I like the music or not.
Dj-M.Bezzle 1:45 PM - 18 July, 2011
all im gonna say is there IS a place in the word for skills and there IS a place in the world for gimmicks, and if you can combine the 2 then more power to you. when you really boil it down both skills and gimmiks DO take a degree of artistic creativity and once you have either of them it still takes a large degree of hustle to make it. I dont see this as any different from slipknot, gwar, kiss, ect ect

Because behind the masks of said people you have talented musicians who can play instruments and can sing etc. Behind the Bl3nd mask I see average DJ skills.

I do - aside from their gimmicks, those bands actually are talented musicians...

nowadays just about anyone can go and make a wack beat on fruity loops, that doesn't instantly qualify you as "talented" and neither does playing pre-recorded mixes...

exactly!!! nobody is saying that he is the next dj am!! i just said that the way he is marketing himself its very impressive!! he is not aiming "the skilled dj who loves the art and the culture" he is aiming the "lets pop some pills, get drunk and party like a rockstar kids"

last but not least, i wasnt talking about you on that one, i wasnt talking about judging the mix, i was talking about his production, yes its not up to par with ATB but hey, not bad for being "his first production" if we can call that since he "collaborated" with another producer, who knows if he really did anything there... peace..

That example was actually REALLY good...bad publicity is good publicity. From that video she's been on countless appearances, spoken about in every forum, she was in the new Katy Perry video AS THE TEACHER OF PARTYING....fucking Colbert even did a cover of her song (and if I'm not mistaken it was for a fundraiser). Regardless of how many likes/dislikes it has if people know about it and consider it a household name its a good thing.

I.E. If OJ Simpson was to announce he is releasing a movie in the Fall and the cast included him Casey Anthony, Hitler, and Osama...besides questioning how some of them were brought back to life I would fucking buy tickets right now for the midnight 3-D release. Because I think what they did was right? Well...of course Osama rules

acutually that all depends what you want, overnight cash in yes your correct, if you want a career being a joke ISNT a good thing, ask milli vannili, kevin federline, vanilla ice ect
jbnyc 8:37 PM - 18 July, 2011
i still think its a bad comparison cause those 2 videos are shared in 2 totally different ways! Rebbeca's was like "haha check this out, she cant sing for shit" and blends was more like " check this out, this kid rocks" something you and i know isnt true but he is building a huge fanbase!
DJ Garebear 8:58 PM - 18 July, 2011
yo his fanbase is stupid ridiculous....I remember seeing it like a month or two ago and he had 500k fans...now its up to over 800k...kid is on a role to have more facebook fans than Tiesto and Guetta in like a year hahaha
Dj Shamann 9:05 PM - 18 July, 2011
I'm still not really mad about this kid. He did something to get noticed, used it as a stepping stone to now promote his producing and then he'll go on from there. If he's successful at that, then he's successful, if not, tough rocks.

The thing is though, he did it himself. He's not a celeb's kid or a reality show personality, just some kid Djing in his room who figured out a way to get people to watch him.

That doesn't mean Dj's can't have an opinion about his skill or whatever, we're a Dj board, what else do you expect?

This my only matter on the subject. I dont rate his DJ'ing skills or his production work. No more no less. Good luck to him and his 800k fans. I will probably never be impressed by him and thats just down to my taste in good DJ'ing and good music.

i was expecting a mature unbiased review from "a dj's" perspective!! not the " ohh lord, i just got a headache from hearing that" specially in this forum, any dutch remixed is called "clock alarm music" hahaha but hey.... if that was an awesome review to you,its cool with me :)

i can't believe this discussion is still going on. thinking back when i first saw the kid on stickam, i knew he was young, but he could actually MIX. he used turntables. he would get on the mic. he would blend songs. play all types of genres. most DJs who talk a lot of shit on here won't flex their skills live on camera - but he did... for fun... and he was good. he came to the jam in LA and he had to be the youngest one there. from what i see, he did everything right. he's not a laptop-push-button-auto-sync-microwave-DJ. he's a real DJ who has a thing going and it's working. some of you should be taking this time to shit on some other DJs who really do suck and shouldn't have a show on Sirius Radio or maybe building your own situation so you won't have time to worry about what someone else is doing.
Daktyl 1:37 AM - 19 July, 2011
I've said it before in this thread and I'll say it again... the mask thing and his vids are a cheesy gimmick, but they WORKED.... You might not like the style of music he plays, but there IS a HUGE market for it... and he may not be the best dj in the world, but...

IMPORTANT FACTS
I dont know why this is such a big discussion and why people are so blind to why the mass likes this kid when its abvious. I am a DJ and understand why other Djs would dissaprove of his mixing techniques or lack there of of his older mixes, BUT he was at a Mardi Gras festival I went to this past year and when competing against some greats like Global Deejays, Congo Rock and 15 other REAL PRODUCERS and disc jockeys this kid took the show (by sheer number of people at his stage).

If you look at it like the majority of people who are NOT dj's and probably care less about his actual skill behind the decks but look at his image (mask) something to familourize with like deadmau5 head, and DANCING which is huge. I know when I just sat on stage bobbed my head and occasionally lifted my arms for a fist pump, I might have been throwing down a solid musical set but people in the crowd dont mind as much if they cant see how exited the dj is, they feed off of the character behind the decks as much as just sick music. Balanced mic time and dancing along with a recognizable image they can immitate (in bl3nds case a mask) then it makes there overall experiance better.

Then the last fact is all the people dogging on Dirty Dutch music that he prefers to mix. Just about any superstar Dj now adays in the electronic scene adds at least 2 or 3 of these tracks into their set (many use much more of it) because its new popular and fun. You may not like it but the majority does. Many people hate Lady Gaga but she was the most marketable and succesfull single artist last year. take a sociology class or common sense and realize the average listener (vast majority) are NOT dj's but are looking for entertainers. I agree Bl3nd needs to start producing if he wants to stay in the game or get much larger (go global) but he used a medium (youtube) to get his success. If you have looked at numbers recently you see that more kids (his majority of fans) spend more time watching youtube then TV.

so what should you get from all this...? having energy, a image and the smarts to promote yourself for FREE is not bad, ill give him a hand

overall what is the point your trying to convey here because there IS a difference between a good dj and a good entertainer (one can be both they are not mutually exclusive) as a promotional tool and entertainer i dout anyone here will question this kids got it but as a board full of DJs its his DJ talent that is in question.

DJ Garebear 11:08 PM - 8 August, 2011
To be 100% honest I liked his scratching at the beginning, but I lost interest later in the video. As much as I like electro-house, I 1.) Get bored from non-vocal tracks 2.) Consider mixing non-vocal tracks to not take much skill

The reason why I say that is because lets not lie...90% of tracks like that are at 128 BPM, so there is little beatmatching required. And you can honestly screw up while mixing but the worse thing to come out of it is that you may have a build up/chorus off a little. If you was to make that mistake with a vocal track all hell would break lose.

This is actually the very reason why I'm not a fan of many minimal DJs/producers (lets not lie...minimal is exactly what the name states)

I dj as a clown. It all started in halloween 3 years ago and saw the reaction i got and people loved it, so that is my gimmick. But it's not your simple clown with paint on my face. nor do i slip a mask over my head. djlothario.com i have contacts, sharp teeth the works. A whole outfit as well that lights up. If you are going to wear a mask, it should be an original idea. the way i have my clown is original. Only problem i have is that it freaks people out and makes some girls cry in the clubs lol, but i like to entertain people. I like to mix classics. 40's to 90's, a little of the new stuff, club electro stuff. Well let me hear what you guys have to say about my gimmick. I have made appearances as the clown in clubs and festivals and my fanbase went up very fast.
dj_soo 11:17 PM - 10 August, 2011
shit man, anything to get that shine right? Nowadays gimmicks seem to get you a better following than actual skills, but if someone with a gimmick also has skills, then you should be doing well. I can see that getup working really well at festivals and you should most definitely be charging a premium on halloween...

read all about the juggalo and it would sound like me a bit though just cause i wear the clown makeup, which is a prosthetic, but no way do i like icp or whatever psycho music is. I listen to alot of 50's doowop and disco music. I get what you are trying to say though. I figured a clown would be different as a dj, i saw that people were enjoying the clown. especially chicks. I would go to an event and i would dry hump chicks who asked for pictures just for the fun of it and they all enjoy it. I get with other dj's and start double humping chicks with them. all for laughs, i dont go to an event and stage dive or try to scare the shit out of people , even though they are scared shitless, but they ease into it after a while and see i am just a fun clown.

yeah dj soo, i am goign to demand that now lol

i wish i could dj that bad, use it when the club is full of ugly chicks, i think ugly chicks are the only ones i would try to scare and make them run away from me.

in nyc when i left the club and was walking to my car, she thought i was following her and starting to freak out. don't know maybe drunk but she stopped started getting emotional and said to stay the fuck away from her, took off her heels and as i got close almost swung at me, she was screaming get away from me. her friends just sat back and laughed at her. kept telling me to go hug her friend, i was like fuck that. girls in nyc are nuts, yet i have a clown prosthetic glued to my face.

The light up clown suit idea sounds pretty killer, as far as being very entertaining and original!
(a lot cooler than a mouse head)
I'd love to see some pics :)
Couldn't really see myself doing it though, (maybe on halloween)
There's this Mastadon video where they all dress like clowns, and the audience too:

Dj Lothario 3:25 AM - 11 August, 2011
lol yep work goes into putting this whole thing together. The fun part is going through a drive thru, i went after a club to get some breakfast at mcadees and the girl saw me screamed and ran away and got every one to come to the window as she stood behind them, they did not open the window. I had to show them my ny drivers license, even then they would crack it open. maybe they though i would rob them or eat them lol

At first i was hesitant to be a dj as a demented looking clown. But i figured why not give it a try. At first people are scared and hesitant, but then they see that i am a pretty cool dude. I never try scaring people, like scream and what not at them, all i have to do is stick my tongue out at girls. the best perk is the humping. i get to hump girls even with their bf looking, there bf just laughs cause the girl is freaked out by a clown humping her. I just try to bring a fun energy and a good vibe to people, even the music i play is unusual. from dee lite to elvis lol, just let people have fun.
DeezNotes 3:41 AM - 11 August, 2011
lol that's hilarious. you need a youtube channel of you doing random clown shit. hahaha
Dj Lothario 3:52 AM - 11 August, 2011
that was my channel where i am just messing around. one of me getting stoned as the clown. crayc the clown is the channel. thats the other persona of the clown lol

the dj version will have a live stream, once i get my new laptop. but i wont be dancing like that dude. I would do the harlem shake lol
jbnyc 4:15 AM - 11 August, 2011
hahaha i wish you had changed your name too! :s not that i dont like your dj name but i think something more catchy for the clown suit...and yes! you look fucking scary!! LOL
Dj Lothario 4:21 AM - 11 August, 2011
lothario means womenizer, a ladies man, a seducer. So when girls say i am scary i say nope i am a sexy clown. I planning on having 2 or 3 girls come dressed in a sexy clown outfit and walk in my arm like i am a pimp. Maybe have them dance shot conffetti into the crowd. I have a co2 blaster gun i shoot people with. Thinking of getting a super soaker and spray people who are dancing, or water balloons but some drunk person might get angry lol
jbnyc 4:32 AM - 11 August, 2011
yeah thats my point, in that outfit trust me you dont look like a womenizer a ladies man or a seducer!!! LOL something like DJ red nose psycho or DJ i slap the shit of your favorite clown and shit!! hahaah you get the point you horny bastard!! LOL ;)
Dj Lothario 4:37 AM - 11 August, 2011
lol yeah but i am not supposed to be a psycho clown in my mind i think i can seduce chicks and find my self to be a sexy clown. i find my self to actually be a sexy clown, too bad no one sees it lol, that would be so typical to be named psycho or something along them lines. but as a lothario you loook at me and be like wtf. i gave a girl a lapdance as a clown.. although i think she was tied up lol
jbnyc 4:54 AM - 11 August, 2011
LMFAO
Dj Lothario 5:04 AM - 11 August, 2011

Dj Lothario 5:28 AM - 11 August, 2011
i went to a beach festival down here went into the water as the clown, i wish i had speedos i would have wore them and painted my body white. people in the water were freaked out, like every one just froze, like wtf is that, told them not to be alarmed, i am looking for a shark to bite. people just laughed at everything i said. awesome experiences as a clown
DeezNotes 10:59 AM - 11 August, 2011
the next time i'm in PR, i'm gonna look you up. i gotta see this shit in person. lol

If a girl wanted to hook up with you in that get up she is a very sick demented individual. (nm)

are you kidding any girl who would be down for that would probably be down for ANYTHING, that would be the funnest night youd ever have lol
Dj-M.Bezzle 1:48 PM - 11 August, 2011
Dj Lothario PROPS on acutually developing the character so deeply, character development of an entertainer persona is a concept miles above the heads of alot of cats here
Dj Lothario 3:37 PM - 11 August, 2011
thanks, i never break character as the clown. I moved down here around December, so all i been doing is making appearances building up my fan base, practicing everyday. There are a few places that want me to gig in their spot. BUt they want to see me spin first, guess a 10 minute preview. Least i have fans around the island now, they are waiting for my gig. not many places play an open format. I will never play reggaeton, i refuse to lol

lol oh damn you have revealed my true identity, i see what you are saying, he has the chin and all. i kind of hijacked this thread lol, but i saw this dj blend video for the first time about 2 weeks ago and i was like wtf, when i saw it i was like damn hope i dont look like a fool like this guy. But then i thought hey i put work into this, i didnt just slip on a michael myers mask on and start dancing all nuts. takes me one hour to get my face ready, plus i have to buy a new face every month, change up the contacts as well. it would be much easier to just slip on a premade mask though and play just one genre.

and i am not a scary clown... i am a sexy clown. lol

Dj Lothario 3:00 PM - 16 August, 2011
oh nice, how is it the party scene there
Caliber 6:53 PM - 17 August, 2011
its alright. Each club have there own night when they get a full night here. It really doesn't matter who is playing at the club these days. It's whether that club becomes D spot by the mass its not gonna make it.

where to be at on the days of the week.
Monday - nothing really happening
Tuesday - Caribbean Rock (Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Pop)
Wednesday - nothing really (there is duffys but there isnt a dj) and Caribbean Saloon (a dj is there sometimes (Hip Hop, Rock, Reggae, Pop)
Thursday - Saints Lounge (Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Pop)
Friday - Fat Turtle (Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Pop)
Saturday - Saints Lounge and the New spot Metropolis Lounge (Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca, Pop)
Sunday - Weekend Bar & Grill (that place is pretty hood (Hip Hop, Dancehall, Reggae, Soca)

I play at most of the spots when is a different promotions because most of them have resident djs. Still dont have my own spot but is in rotation to the new spot Metropolis Lounge, gonna see how that go.

There are more clubs but they don't have a specific night unless they are doing bands
Dj Lothario 9:25 PM - 17 August, 2011
cool, least they play dancehall not many places play dancehall here, i play it. no one dances though lol
Caliber 7:31 PM - 18 August, 2011
oh, i forgot reggaeton also play. I don't know a word they saying but there are a few songs that people go crazy for.
Dj Lothario 7:44 PM - 18 August, 2011

lol its nothing serious, i just realised stupid shits always happening wherever i go so i decided to film just a random day so i filmed this gig i did durring mardis gras in new orleans, then decided it was kinda funney so i dedided to edit it together into a teaser just to start getting my hands dirty with video editing kinda learn how some programs work for when i start doing some video edits. I threw it up on youtube for shits and giggles and have been getting alot of hits and good feedback about it. Most people will thik its dumb as hell but alot of people are finding it entertaining.

I hoping to start filming more and mabye put together something presentable, mabye start up some kind of webisode to drive people to my name.

I feel like DJ's today are like the clowns and magicians from yesteryear. We all want to be taken seriously but there are a bunch of bafoon's in our profession getting alot of attention and bringing the whole art form down. Alot of people getting attention NOT for their talent but for some other reason. ie: Pauly D, Blend and soon Paris Hilton.

Dj Bl3nd , i don't really care . he's he a talentless hack of dj with no real skill and a marketing tactic that though it is working for now, is insanely dumb in the long run if he becomes any more popular . He has 1 million likes on fb now so it's not long before MGM universal is going to send him a cease and desist order for the use of their intellectual property/images . the chucky mask he bought at spencers in the mall is not intended as a dj marketing product and he clearly has no legal ground to use it for promotional purposes and will most likely get a strongly worded letter from the owners of the rights to all images associated with Child's Play that he must stop or pay huge licensing fees and give credit to the copy right holder . that will be fun to watch when it goes down at least and i get to see Mochipet this weekend so YAY!

playing devils advocate here BUT there is a possible flip side to that coin where MGM universal hires him as their promo DJ and he gets to DJ official afterpartys for releases of their scarier movies, in the process gettion 5+ figure paydays.....it couold happen
Cenobite 6:32 PM - 27 October, 2011
i consider that highly unlikely . from the copy right owner's pov it would set a precedent that says "okay use our images for whatever promotional use that you wish without our permission" which a big studio like mgm universal would never want to do . They would see it as having a negative impact on every copyright that they own . Also why pay this guy top dollar when they have total and complete legal rights to put whoever they want in a chucky mask and call him Dj Bl3nd thus screwing him over for his dumbness and he wouldn't be able to do a thing legal-wise. The title Dj Bl3nd is not copyrighted nor would it even be considered copyrightable as simple titles are not copyrightable .there's dozens of dj blends out there and . one on beatport that is releasing tracks under that name has pretty good stuff out .
it's the images you have to watch for. he would have an easier time naming a tracks "child play" or what have you . but using the images from the movie is a direct use of someone's copyrighted image . Every dj should do their homework on copyright law ! this guy is building himself a nice legal trainwreck IF he gets anymore popular . .
Dj Lothario 9:15 PM - 27 October, 2011
I can see that happening. My clown and other disguises does not infringe on any copyright. YAY!

im gonna have to look into this, im SURE there is a combination of loopholes and inncorrect info in there, For example morris day and the time were getting back together but they couldnt use the name "the time" because prince has it copywrited.

in regard to your first point like i said for a huge copyright holder like mgm it would set a very bad legal precedent against them. If they allow it then anyone can use any mgm image they wish to market anything without License . Also in regards to him having the name copyrighted , it all depends . Blend is a pretty simple word for a title of anything and there are already dozens of DJ blends out there so it would be hard for any single person to copyright it . Much harder then say Deadmau5 with his s unique spelling (well i guess bl3nd has that going for him) and the unique image associated with it(which he kinda of has going for him , only the image is stolen in the case ) . So the clearest issue is that he is according to the letter law clearly breaking copyright law . as far as the Name/title of a dj , that's a trickier issue legally . Either way this thread should die . I don't really care how successful he gets , i just brought this up so that dj's would think about how they present themselves and how it could affect their careers in the future . Dj bl3nd can probably get away with the Chucky mask for as long as he's at the level he's currently at , but if he ever made it somehow to a Deadmau5 or Skrillex level (not bloody likely ) he would most certainly have some legal things to sort out with MGM universal or have to ditch the mask .

I had to create an account here just for the plethora of idiotic commentary & hatred. I actually found DJ Bl3nd through SoundCloud--"Swagga Mix."
I really enjoyed his mix because of how high energized it was and how well he combined the mixes along with his use of the mixer. For some of you that post, "What type of 'talent' is that when he's making useless turns on those knobs?"
Lol, goes to show how uninformed you are...those "knobs" are knobs on mixers where you control pitch, balance, sound effects, equalizers, etc.
"Give him some turn tables (like the old school) days and he will suck!"
C'mon guys, that's like saying, "see how good he is at playing Atari instead of the PS3, then we'll talk!"
Get in tune with modern day, even the top dj's are switching over from turn tables to the new technology--Serrato. Serrato scratch is used by a lot of djs. It's not only to beat match, but makes it an ease of having more tracks as opposed to carrying around a bag of vinyl records.
Therefore, it's easier for younger generations to learn how to dj and even produce music. I'll be honest, I learned how to perform basic dj skills via YouTube. Everything else just becomes practice.

My summary is look at DJ Bl3nd's rewards:
Billboard Mag. (what more proof can you have/want of him stepping up)

So what you're saying is you're that much of a loser that you just had to address a bunch of stangers and their comments on a message board to set them straight. It was bothering you that much.

LOL

What's Serrato? I've never heard of it. It must really be new.

I have heard of Serato though, as has everybody else on this board since it's SERATO DOT COM. Serato Scratch Live is 7 years old, maybe new to you, but the rest of us aren't that "uninformed"

You're on a message board for Dj's and you're explaining what knobs on mixers do. Slap yourself.

Wow, congratulations for your repetitive commentary.
Moreover, congratulations on calling me a "loser" because I replied to SOME commentary from others. Contradiction much? I mean you are going out of your way to call me out right?

Anyways, it proves my pt. how ignorant minded folks like you are. I see your page you're all about hip-hop. And guys like you are so close-minded to other genres of music out there. Honestly, if you think it's so simple to mix in some house tracks together then make me feel stupid and try it out.
It's for your own benefit anyways right. I mean you did, in part, become a dj to get paid & known. So like DJ Bl3nd, it might help you get on the Billboard.com site, too. ;)

What do you base that on? Because I have a few Hip Hop mixes on a site that is under construction? I also have some Reggae mixes up, I also have categories for Rock, House, Retro etc.

Not only that but since you went to the trouble of checking out my site, you should've (if you weren't an idiot) read on the very first page, the very first words...

LOL - I've never seen a "pitch" knob on a mixer before.

and a "balance" knob, do you mean pan? (it's a mixer not a car radio) how useful is that?

It doesn't even affect me that a kid in a mask is dancing around and pretending to twist knobs to pre-recorded electro mixes, but I do get a chuckle out of certain "bundles of sticks" who come in here vehemently defending him with little to no basis for their half cocked (pun-intended) arguments...

You want me to link your credentials as well???

"A kid in a mask is dancing around & 'pretending' to twist knobs to pre-recorded electro mixes..."

This is what I'm talking about. You guys are hating so much, but if it's that f*n easy, then where is the fruit of your "accomplishments???" Wait...it shows you have none.
My pt., this is a kid, who in a short amount of time, has amassed more fans, popularity, and is credited on a top company (Billboard.com) for him "jumping around & twisting knobs."
arexniba 2:08 AM - 14 November, 2011
You know why you guys hate?
It's simple.
...jealousy
Dj Shamann 2:09 AM - 14 November, 2011
What does any of that have to do with the argument we're having right now? I called you a loser for your crusade to sign up to message boards to deal with people who say negative things.

Your argument was I was a close minded Hip Hop fan.

I showed you that I wasn't, you quoted a Jay-Z lyric about being a bitch evn though it was you that got all emotional about people "hating" on Bl3nd.

I then laughed at you for going to the trouble of visiting my site to use as leverage in the argument while missing the first words you see when you visit, words that would've saved you the trouble of looking like an even bigger idiot had you paid attention.

And now you come back with Youtube views. Again, what does that have to do with what you and I are talking about at this moment. But to address that, I don't use Youtube, don't promote it, don't care. Youtube is Bl3nd's bread and butter, not mine. I use it to put up a Facebook mix for a reunion party every now and then, look at the time between all my videos. There's what 4 in how many years? The fruits of my labor are in the fact that I've never had to work a 9-5 in 20 years of this thing of ours. It's in my studio, it's in the life I live, the travelling, the good times.

Seriously I think it's you that should stop already, you get even dumber with every post.

Where's YOUR credentials? It's easy to sit and judge others accomplishments when you're hiding your own. Considering you don't even know how to spell Serato, I'm guessing you don't have much.
arexniba 2:24 AM - 14 November, 2011
Wow, I can't spell Serato?
Really, nice come back.

By the way, you're proving my point--"It's easy to sit & judge others' accomplishments..."

Isn't that what you're doing? You're judging others. That's your problem & why you're not successful. Instead of focusing on your music & your career, you're too busy writing back & forth with a complete stranger instead of handling your ish 1st.
Lmao..."you can't spell..." Wow, immature as well.

Ttyl bud
Dj Shamann 2:28 AM - 14 November, 2011
Who's judging others based on their accomplishments? Not me. I'm judging you based on the stupid things you say.

Of course I pulled the spelling card because we're talking about you using technology as an argument, you came in telling people what this "Serrato" was but if you can't spell it, you're clearly not as familiar with the technology as you would like us to believe.
arexniba 2:28 AM - 14 November, 2011
By the way, I don't need to sit to you & list my accomplishments. We are living 2 separate life with different goals.

And no, I didn't have a conversation with You. I came to post up a comment summing up some of the negative feedback some people left about this dj. And it's not specifically to Bl3nd. It's to how inconsiderate many of you are to dj's that are trying to get to the level you're at or even better.
But all you guys do is hate. I personally don't care what you do or the accomplishments you've had. You don't need to sit to me and tell me...like I said, a simple 30sec. Google search and I get much info. that I need to rebuttal.

DJ Shamann, if you want a direct conversation. Then, my specific pt. with you is to stop criticizing others. Didn't you ever get taught the famous line, "Treat others the way you'd like to be treated?"

@ Arexniba. You come here to defend poser of an art you really know nothing about. Seratto, pitch, balance, sound effects , a mixer. To you it probably seems complicated and intricate and after a quick google search probably made you think you knew something about it, well you don't, which is obvious by our lack of effort to explain whats going on to a DJ community (serato.com btw). To us we see through what sheep like you are blinded by (no not the strobe lights and LEDs from the chuckie mask, which im sure mesmerize you) but rather what's really going on behind the DJ booth, which is utlimately/mostly an act.

We mostly hate on the recognition from idiots like you that are given to Bl3nd, I don't think anyone in there right mind can hate on the kids hustle but we are dumbfounded by the people who really don't know any better ie: you of what's really happening.

DJ Head 9:29 AM - 25 November, 2011
I'm actually opening for him tomorrow at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas. It's crazy how much hype the show has gotten. Over 1,000 presale tickets sold out and now that the venue announced that there will only be a limited amount of tickets at the door people are even talking on the Facebook event page about camping out to get in. Thats crazy! I'm hell stoked to play the event and I used to be a Bl3nd hater but now that he's actually touring and stepping into the production game I have respect for the kid. Yeah of course he's no old school DMC DJ but what he lacks in that arena he makes up for in the ability to rock a crowd. I don't know how I feel about people claiming he doesn't mix, I guess I'll find out tomorrow. But it is crazy that he has gotten huge success and fame over Crooklyn Clan mashups. He's bringing in so much more money than all the producers that made the shit he's built his fame off of.
DJ Alkemy 10:39 AM - 25 November, 2011
I think in this day and age its a waste of time even getting annoyed at people like Bl3nd. We are in the fifteen minutes of fame, fast food music download era. People like Pauly D getting famous. Shitty Youtube videos getting worldwide attention. It will all come full circle once again, everything does. And when all is said and done, none of these chancers will be remembered along with bonafide greats in their respective fields. My advice is to crack on with your life, shrug your shoulders at people like Bl3nd, Pauly D and just let the nitwits cream over them.

DJ Head 2:35 AM - 1 December, 2011
So to clear up some stuff about Bl3nd, his set was sick... no joke. BUT... he doesn't wear any headphones (obviously because of the mask) so throughout his set he would be staring at the screen matching up the waveforms. He also had a crate already prepared in serato for his set that he just went down the list like it were iTunes mixing song to song 130bpm-130bpm-130bpm-130bpm and so on. So no he isn't playing prerecorded sets, but its just a planned out set all in the same bpm allowing him to mix visually and have time to run around soaking people with water guns and stage diving just in time to run back to the decks in time to line up the waveforms for the next track. So technically speaking the software was doing the majority of the work. However, his track selection (or at least for the set he played) was amazing! He also knows how to rock a crowd. I have never seen the Lizard Lounge go that hard on a Friday night. Before that night I was skeptical of Bl3nd but after meeting him he's actually a really friendly and funny guy. I thought he would be stuck up and cocky but he was actually very humble and excited to be playing the gig. Moral of the story, its up to you wether or not you consider Bl3nds screen gazing mixing or not, but he put on a hell of a show and I was impressed!

For anyone who's interested here are the photos from the event. www.facebook.com
