editing ssl colours with external editors

I was wondering if there was any way to edit the colours that ssl provides to your tracks with an external editor eg id3-tagit or winamp if possible.

where is the information stored in the id3 tag itself and is it clearly visible?

I have also been having a little trouble importing, i was wondering if this feature could be added to the next update, when in the import browser could we have some coloumns that we can order our files by eg last date modified would be good as all my music is in one massive folder ordered by artist name and when i just drag the "ssl" folder it takes around half an hour to scan.

another option that i seem unable to do is change the coloums in the browse window, i always seem to get bpm artist album title and i dont want those coloumns but i cant remove or change them, is this just me?

I'm not sure exactly which part of the tag the color field is, but you can batch edit multiple files in 1.7.1. Just highlight all the files you want to change and select the color for one of them and it will be applied to all the songs highlighted.

You can't sort by date modified in the Import browser unfortunately, but you can sort by date added in the crates. Click the little triangle in the upper-right of the tracklist display area above the vertical scroll bar. Then you can select which columns you want (or don't want) shown. You can also move columns left/right to order them the way you want by click hold and dragging the headers. By default, all new crates made follow the format of the ALL crate, so if you want all your new crates to follow a specific format, setup the ALL crate the way you want it, and all new crates made will follow that format.

cool thats what ive been doing so far.

do you know if you can change the column headers when you are in the browse browser?

also anyone still know exactly where in the id3 file the colour is stored?

Oh, the Browse browser, I though you were referring to the Import browser. I didn't think people actually used the Browse browser. No, your limited to Genre BPM Artist Album in thee Browse browser, can't change those.

this is what i was asking for in the suggestion place a while back no one caught on to what i was saying...

to make the color editible in an externam tagging software they need to use a tag that other programs already use... i suggested grouping...

i think this is huge (along with makeing the colors bigger also see other suggestions in the app place

and this is also huge....

making an edit mode checkboxx on the main page right next to setup (that was never checked by default because it would slow down sys preformance and prevent acccidents)

it would make it so when checked,
you could take a song and drag it onto a field of the browser up top and it would take that field only for what ever tag it corrosponded to...

so say youve got two different files : for example (i am assuming that the filenames and tag match here...

k-sharp and konix - rising up.mp3 and another
k-sharp vs konix - rising up (tommy k mayhem remix).mp3

now in the browser in serato (and itunes) this is stupid... these songs are both by the same people, just inputed differently- if i am "browsing" for all songs by these two people i want them to be in the entry ... its 1:30 am im spinning at wherever i dont want to have to reach acrosss my decks and stummble around the keys trying to fix this problem esp since it took my drunk ass a minute to realize where the song i really was REALLY looking for was... but ill never remember to go back and fix it later in (-your fav tag editor here-)

im my world you flip the box, drag and drop, flip it off and go... imagine fixing all kinds of tagging mistakes like this, album, remixer, whatever.... now imagine this including the color labeling system (which again i think should use the grouping tag)

im not advocating the total integration of the godfather, tag n rename, itunes or anything into serato... those tools all have their place on the plane, train, or at your desk, but it would be so nice to be able to edit like this while you were spinning...
