Feature request : beat grid effect in itch

ypeiffer 12:18 AM - 11 November, 2010
Hi,

I absolutely like the "beat grid" effect used on VDJ ... Made by Atomix production, I think ... I know, I speak about concurrence but ... Is it possible to develop this effect in itch ? I think it would be cool to manipulate function with the V7 effects knobs ...

Somebody knows how to simulate this effect with the existing effects in itch ?

THX

Yves

PS : beat grid effect has nothing to do with "beatgrid" in SSL/itch

Probably...But for some reason I can't get a nice FLANGER sound in ITCH as of yet. The sound that I get is way too loud and makes the limiter go off if I apply more than 30-40% of the efx. I usually keep it at either 4/1 or 8/1, I think.

What settings do you use to get the best sound out of ITCH's flanger ?
kraal 11:42 PM - 11 November, 2010
lobboclub you are using the nsfx which i can't help yoou with the vfx-1 you actually need to change every parameter to get a good sound and i think the nsfx is missing one

I probably just need to play more with the settings on the NSFX to find the sound that I'm looking for.

ITCH calls it loop-roll... and it's close enough.

no it is not

I'm agree with Kraal, the "bet grid effect" is far far far away from loop roll.

The Loop Roll it's a loop, when you leave it the song continue at the point it would be if you never made this loop (I konw my explanation is confuse).

The "Beat grid" is more like a soffisticated repeater effect ...
DJdaveZ 6:42 PM - 12 November, 2010
yeah its definitely not loop rool. its like a basic step sequencer.
zaguama 7:08 PM - 12 November, 2010
yeah the flanger cant be tweaked on the nsfx the only adjustable parameter is the length and thats about it which sucks, hmmmmm maybe all this time that i have complained about the effects on ITCH could be due to the limitations of the NSFX lol which doesnt allows you to do much, i wish i could play with a vfx1 to see how it compares having more adjustable parameters.

i was amazed that the v7's didnt add the extra parameter and if i am not mistaken the vfx-1 doesnt have it either????

well maybe serato will figure a way to put it in 2.0 on the missing contrlllers

VDJ only had 2 parameter knobs as well, and the flanger still sounded nicer.

My main issue with ITCH's flanger is that makes the sound very loud when it's reaching that last part of the efx. VDJ in the other hand, keeps the sound lower and at the same level towards the end of the efx. Like I said before, with VDJ I used to work the transitions with it because it actually lower the overall level of the track, so there was no much need for me to play with the bass while transitioning between tracks.

I'm in the process of recording some mixes and trying out different settings to see which one gives me the best sounding Flanger possible in ITCH. I shall report back.

To all my ITCH family, have a nice weekend !!!

really cant compare the amount of knobs the both handle generating the sound different

My point is that, I personally don't think it has anything to do with how many parameter knobs or sliders VDJ vs NSFX have for efx control/twist. It has more to do with the actual effect itself.

For now, back to office work mode...I'll play a little bit more with the flanger tonight during sound check for the wedding I'm doing later on.

Anyone found the Beatgrid like sequencer effect for Serato?

Is it possible to edit the VDJ plugin file and import it manually?

I agree with this feature request... that little beatgrid effect on VDJ was so simple but so effective!

You guys should deffo look into a version of this effect!
