Did 2 hours last night with the new 11 inch macbook air. even though it doesn't quite meet the system specs, it ran smoothly and without issue. just in case anyone was wondering...

1.4GHz Core 2 Duo.
Honestly, apart from the size - it felt like I was djing with my macbook pro.
NOTE: using v7s with wifi and bluetooth turned on.
the only thing i really hate is the ssd disk space - I'm used to a terabyte on my mbp.

I guess performance with internal mixing ITCH devices could be less stellar.

yeah - you might be right. If I had kept any of them I would test for yall, but V7s are the best for me, so that's what I stuck with.

I'm interested to see how a XONE DX works with the air. Thinking about parting with my macbook pro 15"

FWIW, V7s and the Denon seem to use the least amount of CPUs - probably because they don't use ITCH's internal mixing engine.

i think the vci300 uses the least - i was running that just fine on an atom-powered netbook with integrated GMA graphics. at the time my ns7 would choke on that.

wow. that's really cool to hear. That would be awesome to use a small footprint 11" macbook air.
I have two V7s as well - hmmmm..... Always good to downsize that part of one's rig IMO. Keep the clutter, size, and weight to a minimum if you can.
Damn, i hate being tempted. Right now I use my 15" MacBook Pro, but it would be awesome to have a macbook air dedicated for just djing.

It turns out that a top of line Macbook Air 13" is actually FASTER than a base 13" Macbook Pro. So much for an "underpowered" machine :)

I use a 13inch MBA 2,13 with SSD for DJing (ITCH & Traktor) since 1.5 years without problems.
But I wonder if the new 11inch MBA with its only 1.6GHz processor has enough power for ITCH & Traktor. I would like to switch to 11inch
@yeahdef which latency have you set in itch on your 1.4GHz mba? Are 2ms workable without dropouts?

im using 1ms latency. no dropouts yet, but i did notice once or twice during my set the waveform would stutter a minor amount when i was cueing up / cutting in.
im sure at 2ms, it'd be gravy

Hey there. I realize this is an old thread, but was hoping you might be able to offer some experience...
I'm looking at the NEW MBA 11", that's now offered with a 1.8 GHz optional processor upgrade. I've got the NS7, with the included copy of Itch (1.8 GHz is the actual minimum spec that's listed for Itch/NS7). Based on your posts above, this should be a workable combo, right?

So... if I'm reading this correctly... I should be all set running my NS7 through Serato 1.7 (it's the version that came with my NS7) on a new 11" MacBook Air 1.8GHz (Intel i7 chipset)? Yes? (please, say "yes").

only one thing: the new MBA ships with OSX 10.7 Lion; ITCH is still listed as "not compatible" yet, even if many users are running it happily on Lion.

I've got a bud that works at the Apple Store. He's confirmed that the new Air will run under 10.6.8, and 32-bit. Lion annoyed me when I was trying it out.
Didn't know there was an Itch 2.0. I'll be sure to get everything updated on the Air. Should be here mid-week next week. I'll post my experience with it.

OK: update: I've got the new 2011 11" MBA, 1.8 GHz, 2GB/120GB-SSD, running OS 10.7 and Itch 1.7. I've spun for a few hours now, and it's flawless. I'm in love with this laptop.
Also... it will NOT run any OS earlier than 10.7 that it ships with. There are hacks that supposedly will let you run certain versions of 10.6, but they are flakey, certain features (like firewire) won't work. 10.7 takes a little getting used to, but for the most part it's a lot like 10.6.x. Still not sure I like this 2 fingered scrolling though.

do you mean the "natural scrolling"? you can reverse it in system preferences

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. (I mean... really? Do you think I'm an idiot? Should I assume you have your preferences for capitalization and punctuation reversed?)
I simply said I wasn't sure if I liked it, not that I don't know how to operate a computer.

It will probably run OK but because the NS6 has 4-decks on screen by default, the screen resolution is too low. You will have virtually no library viewable onscreen.

Check your OS version, and then make sure your version of Itch is compatible.
