Yesterday I watched a dj on TT set his needle at the start of his vinyl and let it run all the way down while mixing in and out of at least 10 songs. I asked him why he did that and he said because it takes too long to re-cue at the beginning of the record so he uses NO lock deck and REL mode to quick mix. Thus still being able to manipulate the vinyl and still get the songs out. It's not practical to do this on the vinyl but is possible to do it with the cd signal. and no it doesn't work by just recording the signal without pauses back to back.
