More range on the output gain would be sweet! im always maxing out my master gain or as close as i can get without clipping and more room on the master gain would really help bring SSL up to typical line level, its just to damn quiet at the moment.

you probably need to boost or normalize your audio files to get a "louder" result

Done all that man, just dosent have the punch FS2 had.

Does your mixer have an attenuation switch that's turned on? I've never had a problem with volume.

i've never had a problem either. put a cd or record on. see if there is a volume difference. something doesnt sound right.

usually if you have your levels that high you would have mad distortion.

Yeah,

Indeed, getting that extra push over the cliff... I do not use the auto gain feature in ScratchLIVE, I find that records these days are mixed with plenty of gain and punch and the auto gain neuters them a bit. I put my amp gain up... then attenuate with the mixer gain... And things are just booooomin! My two cents would be not to really count on the mixer gain, but look at either side... the mp3 itself and the final gain from the amp!
