What features would you like to see in Serato software?
back to the start of a track made easier in rel mode

i mentioned this in the help forum, figured i should post it here...
here is my suggestion and some reasons why:
why not just switch to absolute while the needle is at the start and then switch back to relative? may not be easy at first but practice enough and it'll become second nature.
well, it defeats the purpose of wanting to narrow it down to 1 move instead of the 3 it takes to bring back the needle and click the mouse on the abs button, and then click it again on the rel button...
right now it's 2 moves when i stop the record and click shift-arrow, which doesn't always work b/c if another tune is highlighted it will load the new track, not the tune you're currently on (making it where you can't really highlight a tune to be played next to have it ready)...
it's one move if you click shift-i/shift-k, but i hate hitting the shift button first, and additionally, if you accidently hit shift and the letter for the wrong side, all of the sudden it will restart the track playing, which is a nightmare in a club...
if you use caps lock then you can't search through your playlists w/o clicking on it again each time, and i need to be able to leave caps lock off, as searching that way allows me to locate tracks quickly in big crates...
the ability to just put it at the very start and it bring the track back to the start in relative mode would be a great feature to reduce the effort it takes to do it in it's current state, it would allow you to do it quicker too, so if you need to get back to the start to throw the tune in at a certain place, you won't miss it due to the 2 and 3 extra movements it currently takes to get back to the start...

additionally, i think rane should implement something in the next batch of vinyl (something like the vinyl scroll at the end of the record) so you can put the needle in a certain spot at the beginning of the vinyl which brings it back to the start of the tune, so in relative mode you can get back to the beginning of the track w/o hitting shift-i/shift-k, or shift and the arrow keys...why not just switch to absolute while the needle is at the start and then switch back to relative? may not be easy at first but practice enough and it'll become second nature.

I always make a cue mark at the first downbeat, making restarts easier.

i'm still using the shift and arrow keys which reload the song, but as i said, what sucks is if another tune is highlighted it will load the new track, not the tune you're currently on (making it where you can't really highlight a tune to be played next to have it ready)...

The temporary cue point is by default set to the beginning of the track. Simply push I/K to jump back to the start.
But not as good as having a cue point set to the first downbeat.

let me ask you this though, when i set a cue point (i haven't set any), do i have to move the mouse up and click something to get to that cue point, or is there a single button on the keyboard i can hit to get to it?...
i still say adding a special section at the beginning would be the quickest, easiest, and therefore the best, and i've mentioned this to other local serato users (whom only use relative mode) and they all agree...

It's like any of the other keyboard shortcuts, you have to hold shift+1,2,3,4...0 or turn the caps lock on then hit 1,2,3,4, etc.

they really need to implement this on the next batch of vinyl...
it's obvious a lot of relative mode users want it...

for example, an option to jump to the start of the track if dropping the needle at the very beguinning of the vinyl...

exactly, if they can implement something like vinyl scroll (the feature where you can change tracks by putting the needle in the very last bit of the a-side), then surely they can put something similar at the beginning of the record so that the current track goes back to the start...
it's literally the only thing i don't like about relative mode... having to hit shift-i/shift-k or shift and the arrow keys to get back to the start sucks...

I’m playing with CD’s and I want to start from my cue point in REL mode.
When I’m mixing I like to start the song from my cue point one or two times to hear that the beat match the song before I make the mix, or I want to play it in some second some times before I let it go. That means that I want ScrachLIVE to go to my cue point when I press cue on my Denon CD-player in REL mode. Then I can play it from there by pressing cue and play over and over again :-)

Lock playing deck feature in the set up menu will prevent the issue of accidentally loading a track to the wrong (playing) side.

Ah, I don't use lock playing deck. I thought it would get you covered, but I guess not.
Whenever you're in CLT, hit me up and I will try to help you out with anything in the program, or at the very least, just to chill for a bit.
