I am thinking of buying the 13" MackBook but I am wondering if it is enough and can handle every weekend use or do I need to spend the extra cash for the Pro. I will only be using it for Serato. Any Help is appreciated.

Macbook is more than enough and runs SSL great. I have one and no problems at all (minus the known USB port problem).

ok you just saved me some money because I just bought the regualr white 2.0 1gbram 80gig hd and was ready to take it back for the pro because of all the problems I have been hearing but if they both have the problem no use on spending an extra $700 just to use Serato on it.

is that the only difference you have between the two? I would imagine both perform the same right?

i got the 2.0 13 macbook in black. I had to upgrade the memory to 2gb.the only difference with the pro is the light up keys, I dont care for that. My friend works at the Apple store and she told me to buy the macbook and not the pro because the letters wear out on it, i dont know if that is true but im really happy with the black macbook with serato

im not truly concerned witht he light uip keys more than I am with perfomance and it being stable. I dont see paying that much more for light up keys and screen size just for one program. 2gb of ram just for Searto seems a bit much no? I got the white one the guy at the Apple Store said save the cash no difference excpet hard drive. I just wanted to make sure performance wise they were the same.

Apags,
Performance wise, the chip speed is unlikely to be noticeable with Serato. If all you're going to be doing is SSL audio, you should be fine with the MacBook.
If, however, you plan on doing video mixing in the future, the significantly better video card in the MacBook Pro might be worth the money. Additionally, the MBP has a FireWire 800 port that might be useful to you for video work, or if your music library is huge (e.g. >25,000 tracks).
Another reason you might want to go with the Pro that isn't related to DJ work is if you intend to install Windows on the machine to play games. In that case, the better vidcard in the pro will definitely be worth the money.
The MBP does have higher performance specs across the board, and comes with more "stuff" and better "stuff" in its stock configuration, but if your primary use is SSL, you probably won't notice the difference and should save the money.
Plenty of high-profile DJs are using the lower-cost MacBook.
