Serato Crashed on me last night

1.7 crashed on me, luckily it was on the last song of the night, but sucked becuse it was the beginning of the last song. Music just stopped, Serato showed the interface was not plugged when it was, and i also had the external power on it which saved me while i'll i loaded a regular cd as i was running with the throughs connected. i restarted the laptop and opened ssl, noticed no library! I was like "NOOOOOO!!!!!" I shut down it down and restarted and the library appeared, i was so happy! But like i said it was the last song so i couldnt proceed to use the laptop. Wondering, what settings should be on as far as usb, screen refresh etc. I have a macbook pro 2.16 ghz 1gig ram 120gb hd. I've been running the same set up for a month or so using it twice a week with no issues, wonder why it crashed like that... Now im nervous about next weekend... i ran the tests on the laptop everything passed... i didnt have anything turned on that i shouldnt have and all my overviews are built. Rrrrrr.

how would denon cd players cause the SL1 box not be recognised by the computer?

ahhh, a response... Thanks d:raf, I will purchase one this week and check it out. I'd figure it could be a physical issue and not a Serato issue per say. It just never happened so abrubtly like that.

??? Some people man... So replace my cd players because Serato crashed...? May I ask what cd players you think I'm working with? I guess you had some bad experiences with Denon, but the cd players have no relavence on this post. Serato crashed, get rid of your players? Lol, nice troubleshooting.

Yea...
Car quit running - must be the tires.....
And if everyone got rid of overy piece of kit that ever had problems I wouldn't have a pair of Technics SL-DZ1200's and I probably wouldn't have a pair of the TASCAM Mixwell CD-DJ1's since I can't seem to find anyone using those...
Yes, there have been a few models of Denons that have had some problems but there is also firmware updates that from the last report I had seems to address most (if not all) of them....

this was most likely caused by bad hardware. most likely a bad usb cable from what i can tell. i've seen that exact behavoir with a bad usb.
although denon cd players suck, they can not cause ssl to crash, period. anyone that suggests that they will is not very smart.

denon s1000 cd players crash on all versions 1.4. -1.7.1 when i used to work at this one bar that only had denon s1000 cd players. at my other gigs i used turntables with serato and within 3 years i never had a crash using vynil. I also own a pair of 2 denon s1000 cd players and they are going on ebay soon.

Regardless of recent issues, ssl crashing has nothing to do with the players. lol, if I would've said "Control discs acting crazy", then bring it on...

agreed. other than the fact that they suck, i've never had any problems with my SLDZ1200 either. when i'm not pissed about some reason or another that they suck, they're actually pretty damn cool and the timecode signal is certainly more reliable to turntables+needles.

i just can't get the hang of the funny little platters man. there's a reason why cat don't slap 45s on when they are ready rock a set. too small. i guess if i owned some, i might start to like them and get the hang of them.

Sounds like a bad usb cable...it happened to me just like that...and it was the cable.
Now I change my cables with when I get new tips for my cartridges.

same here disturbed, i'll play on anything really if i have too but i prefer denon's just becuase i cant get used to the pitch response on some players. also denon's +/- buttons are another reason why i use them.

could be corrupt files, or VBR files, my only crashes(2 in 1 nite) ever, out of about 200 gigs was because of bad files.

so how can i tell if its corrupted, the cd icon of the song doesnt have the break in it. it plays fine via itunes.
