I reckon it will be later this year, they can't really still keep putting out 57's with discontinued hardware in it now.

Would you rather see an updated 57 with a SL-2 in it or an empathSL version with a SL3 in it? or both? lol

Would you buy both Dub? Knowing you, you probably would.
I'd love to see an empathSL. Simply because I love the TTM57SL and could use the extra channel.
68 is great but I wouldn't have use for the 4th channel.

I was surprised by this myself, I really just wanted the 3rd channel but the way everything is routed on the 68, your sampler goes through a channel, so if you use three turntables & a sampler, you need 4 channels. Further, if you use the bridge, that has to be routed to a channel as well and it's tricky to manage all that without 4 channels.
But before I bought the 68, I waited to see if there was an empath at NAMM... now I wouldn't go back.

a ttm 58 with built in sl2 with an option to use the mic as a third channel to route sample player to it

i would prefer a redesign of the entire mixer. screw the group buttons and set something up in design like the 68 or the new pioneer (which basically ripped off the design from the 68).
Basically, a 2 or 3 channel 68 would be dope...

I just really love the 10" mixer format.
I would buy both for the sake that I use multiple mixers. I have a set-up at home and one for the road, plus I provide gear for most of the DJs that pass through my area.
I wanted an EmpathSL when the 68 dropped. I knew it would be at least a year before a new mixer dropped so I waited until NAMM this year. The 68 is just a little bit more than I need in a mixer. I still like it, still plan on getting one...but it's more of a jump than I want to take. Combined with the cue point buttons which are clearly not working for a lot of current 68 users, I just don't feel 100% excited about what my options are.
To top it off, I NEED a new mixer. I depend on quality gear to feed my family. I baby my 57 and it still has loose knobs. I use it 4-5 times a week in just as many environments. The 68 requires a new case, new space in my booths, and for most of my (2 turntable) gigs it's too much mixer.
now, throw on top of the THAT...
I need a new computer too, and the new MBPs don't like the 57.
Honestly, I feel left hanging. I bet a majority of Scratch Live users rock 2 decks and like Rane mixers. I can see a third deck, but I wasn't hearing a bunch of requests for a 4th deck. 4 channel mixer, yes....but I thought the EmpathSL was higher up on the request list as was a USB2 TTM57.

what I DO want:
Empath with a built in SL4.
3 full deck channels
SP6 on the aux
and full record in/out (for sampling loops and for recording sets)
maybe the 2 USBs but I could live with one. (make 2 models)
add controllers for browsing and FX control and looping. (auto loop/loop roll right in the channel strip, 1 for each channel)
all knobs/faders are midi

All the fanboy shit aside, this and what dub says will sell and make ppl happy, also a midi usb out so you can plug midi controller straight into mixer.

I think it would been better to bring out the SL2 and an updated 57 at the same time. Discontinuing one absolutely spells certain doom for the other.

Maybe soon...
