usb midi crossfader?

SMOKE DOGG BITCH 12:38 AM - 7 September, 2010
if this does exist someone please point me to it. basiclly what im looking for is JUST a crossfader with usb midi out. im runnin vsl and have ttm57. some of the venues i do dont have room in the booth for me to set up my gear but have decks mixer ect. it would be ideal to have a small add on i can use for crossfading the video and use there audio. rane should get on this. $99 price point? id even pay $199, dont care

im with you on this

im in the same vote - the club i DJ at has no suitable mixer so so far ive had to use the arrow keys on my laptop.

ive considered the Novation Nocturn which would be good, but ive seen some posts in here saying its tough to set up.

id love it if Rane came up with a dedicated Midi controller for SSL which included a cross fader.
SMOKE DOGG BITCH 1:37 AM - 7 September, 2010
ive looked at the novation piece, size wise id prob just bring out the 57 wich is why i passed on it. a nice small crossfader usb powered with midi would be the ish
DJBIGWIZ 6:05 AM - 7 September, 2010
use the Stanton SCS-3M

you can control the crossfader and channel faders for VSL and set video effects and bypass or unbypass thenm as well as control the parameters for all 4 video effects at the same time
Yes, it's midi and USB and not very big
KMXE 9:54 AM - 7 September, 2010
cool - i never saw that before. its cool as theres no knobs and stuff so if you throw it in your bag you shouldnt need a special carry case it seems.

is that what you use?
SMOKE DOGG BITCH 11:20 AM - 7 September, 2010
getting closer but still might as well bring out my 57. search continues

It's not that bad. Once you get it right once, it USUALLY works from there on out. I have had it cut out 3/4 of the way through a show, though. For the price it's a good solution, and it's not THAT big. I used to just slide the club's mixer back a bit and put it in front before I got my 57. It also gives you some extra knobs and buttons that you can assign for video FX/transition scrolling etc.

Even after reading all thoses posts about it being hard to use im still seriously considering the Nocturn. I just wish Rane/Serato would release their own!!

I use that a lot for VSL and the DJ FX in SSL

What would be great ? A Pro-X fader or Inno Fader with USB/MIDI out so we could have MIDI crossfade and audio at the same time with any mixer.... simple.
Code:E 3:17 AM - 27 March, 2012
I use this guy for all my video controls when i cant MIDI a mixer.... and when i can i still use this for all of my efx and such. (i do use ME though, but you should have no problem mapping VSL to it) www.m-audio.com

and its cheap....

If only it culd handle audio.
It amazes me how few 2 channel mixers with midi are out there, dont the companys who make them realise its the future? pfff

I can, if you use VDJ or Traktor...... It could do all your audio mixing as well... Know that doesn't help you...

yeah i ear you. I've been thing about moving away from serato soft for that reason, but i have it from way back and changing now means re-learning everything wich gives me a headache.
I know rane wants to sell 57's Sitxy-one's and Sixty-Two's, but their price tag is far too high for the common user, pro DJs who make good money will still buy them even if there are cheaper models out there so an affordable low budget solution would be great
Code:E 8:31 PM - 27 March, 2012
VDJ is a great program.... I really loved it you might want to look at it again.

or move over to itch and use serato video.....

I have serato video. but no mixer with midi cross-fader.
i basically gave up on waiting and im buying the vestax pmc 05 pro iv.
The rane models are way to expensive for those who already have bought the box... the sixty-one and sixty-two look awesome but 2.000 on mixer is way above my price range.

the djm 700 and 800 models can crossfade audio/video as long as you have a usb-midi device connected to the mixer. it's a cheaper solution :)

What mixer does the club use? If it's midi compatible then all you need is a usb-midi cable connected to the mixer which then will allow you to crossfade audio/video using just the mixer :)
djdonnydee 1:13 PM - 24 May, 2012
Denon dn-x600 2channel mixer has midi cross fader

www.novationmusic.com

I used this for exactly the purpose you describe before I got my 57.
Eric N 3:52 PM - 24 May, 2012
It's a crossfader plus a couple of extra buttons and knobs that you can assign to other functions. Those are kind of a pain and don't seem to always stay assigned, but the crossfader is easy to map and works fine.
