8th Wonder Files Crashing SL

Dj Delirious 3:05 AM - 25 August, 2010
So i have been having alot of issues with video files drop audio and crashing sl video. I have tried this with Sl 1, Sl 3, 57 and the 68. They all do the same thing and narrowed it down to certain files. With all my files having built overviews and organizing a certain crate for 8th wonder i found that video files downloaded from the 8th wonder website tends to crash Serato. I have tried this many times on different versions of SL. Other websites that i download music or videos are more stable than this site i noticed. I have asked a few friends as well and they are having the same issue especially with editing mp4 tags. After a few mins of changing there id tags serato crashes. I always thought it could be the software or the hard drive but i have done so many tests that it all points down to their files they are providing. Has anyone else experienced this as well?

Please be specific with the files you have identified.

I know that the forum discussed a Billionaire mashup that was doing this. Happened to me...the only time I've ever had a live issue with V-SL...F**kin 8th wrongder.

Besides that "Billionare" track (which other services did way better edits of anyway), the only 8th Wonder files I've seen that caused problems were some from one particular editor that was encoding without any keyframes.

I've kind of gotten in the habit of "especially-thoroughly" checking anything I use from 8th Wonder though...partly checking for strange frame/bit rates, partly checking for badly-done edits (very common), partly to clip off those obnoxiously craptastic "DJ Anchor..." intro bits on any of those guys' edits, and mostly because its obvious that no one behind that operation seems too concerned about quality in general.

you could be downloading to many files at once with causes you to get bad files. only download 2 or 3 tracks at a time and that should help!

That really affects the file quality? Dam I have always downloaded 15+ at a time. I wonder if that could be the cause of some issues
dj vegas 11:37 PM - 25 August, 2010
quality as far as not working half way through exct
DJMark 4:39 AM - 26 August, 2010
I've never seen problems from multiple file downloading, unless they terminated before completion.

Would be nice to hear more from the original poster about which specific files are causing problems...

Poproxxx and i discovered billionaire that's all i know. file plays fine on ME but that was the first upload of billionaire, they later fixed it.
for awhile Magic Man's stuff had no keyframes. i think he fixed it.

and like Mark said the only way multiple dloads wud affect quality is if it terminated.

eh, that billionaire mix crashed me the other day as well.

I have download 44 zipped files containing videos and walked away, they are correct when they say it is only affected if terminated. Safari on my PC allows you to do as many downloads as you want.at the same time.. IE well if I recall will only let you do six at a time and Firefox six as well...

Firefox six as well...
By defaualt you can change it though
Funkytownstopsix 8:02 PM - 26 August, 2010
where can you change it in firefox I have done it for IE... I use Safari because I dont get all the downloading boxes the just have a download box that you can see downloads in..
djnak 5:19 AM - 27 August, 2010
Step 1: Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar
Step 2: Search for network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server by entering this in the filter field.

Max Connections per server in Firefox

Step 3: by default this would have set to 6, double click and set this digit to a higher number to increase the simultaneous download limit per server

Sorry guys about the late response so busy with gigs... Anyways theres a hand full of tracks that are giving errors even the billionare track. Im in the process of let you guys know. Most time i know a track is bad i color code them so i can keep track. So for theres a few. I am always filtering out the corrupt files and organizing files so i can get a better idea. As for downloading on safari or IE or firefox i dont download a whole bunch at a time. Its like one or two depending what i like. As for record pool im in eight so its only with 8thwonder i noticed this. Still debugging more with the files and even trying to convert some of them see if that helps. I will keep you guys posted!!!!
