When I replaced the stylus on my m-447 the dude in the store said that you should make sure you know the exact model you need because a lot of those carts in that Shure line don't have interchangeable stylii. He didn't mention those models in particular, so I can't say for sure though.
Why do you ask?

The N44G is the replacement stylus for the m44-7. It says so on the box. I don't know what they call it something different.

I alreadly have the m447's, do you guys think that the m44g's give a noticable change in sound when using SSL?

no.... b/c the needle is not producing the sound comming out of the speakers directly.. so having a better sounding needle wont give you better sound quality out of your system while running ssl... the quality of the mp3/audio file determines that. All the needle is doing is sending a signal to the computer to tell it what to do.

So, If I'm using SSL 99% of the time, I should just stick with the N447 Stylus, and not the N44G stylus?
Would there be any point to switching?
Thanks.

No real point unless the two needles track differently for you. I just switched from OLD stanton 500s to the 447's and I see no real tracking difference in them.
