I myself had no luck with i tunes others do. Some say use crates some say use itunes. Try them both for about a month each you will soon figure it out.

Thanks. I have had no problems using crates so far anyway so there is no point in fixing something that aint broken I suppose. I would just be interested to hear the argument for iTunes

itunes is a very decent music managment program, it allows easy editing of all aspects of id3 tags, which are most important in ssl. Smart playlists are useful if your quite lazy and want things gernerally sorting without much hassle.
the best thing in my opinion is the fact that even when you are listening to tunes and doing things other than ssl, all modifications you make eg rating or tag editing automatically show up in ssl, saving alot of time.
im not a mac person, but i feel that itunes is a great piece of software. Best way to find out is to give it a go.

I use iTunes... SSL reads your crates and really makes it pretty easy for you to remember where something is quickly... An example of my crates are:
Early R&B 1
Early R&B 2
Jazz
Instrumentals
Reggae
...
Try it out and see what you think.. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me pimp...

I use Itunes and import everything through there...What I do after that is make a crate in SSL and just copy the itunes crates into the SSL crate and then delete the playlist on itunes. This way I can have subcrates and keep everything nice and clean! :) I love it
