does AUTO GAIN work with WAVs?

My question is really where is the gain data specifically stored. If it is in a tag in the music file as opposed to the SL crate file, then I am presuming auto gain will not work with WAV files, because WAV files do not have tag capability.
If this is the case, are there plans to make auto gain & auto bpm compatible with WAV files?

It definately does work with wavs. The values are stored in the xml database, not in the file itself. The Serato people specifically wanted to leave your files alone and not write new information to them so the data is stored seperately.

That is not correct.
1st. there is no "xml database"
2nd. if you transfer a wav file with changed track gain to a differen computer, the track gain value will remain, which means the change is stored inside the wav audio file.

how is it possible to store the gain information in the WAV file when there are no tags?
Also does the auto bpm work with WAVs? I haven't tried it yet.

There is some kind of tag, I think its stored in some chunked header, but I am not sure.
