mk2 to 1210m5g.. Advice needed about VALUE

JustForKicks 10:19 PM - 22 February, 2007
I have had my 1210 mk2s for about 8 years now. Bought them brand new, they still are solid and have been used for gigs ever since.

I just got quoted $1025 for 2 brand new 1210 m5gs. As many of you know these are beautiful turntables in my opinion, not only the look, but aswell as their engineering..

So this is my question to you guys.. do you think it is worth it to sell my 8 year old, still solid 1210 mk2's for _______ (not advertising) and then pay $425 to obtain the 2 m5gs? (do the math)...? give me all ur viewpoints and opinions... thanks in advance..

tell them you'll give them 860.00 maybe 900.00 cash and if not walk out!

if your paying 1025 for them you need to get better friends... lol

Yo JFK, whatever your comfortable with bro. I preferenced the mk5's over the mk2's and now preferenced the M5G's overall, That's just my preference only.

Now if you enjoy your Mk2's, then I wouldn't bother with getting the M5g's.

Question for you? Now with that quote $1025, does that include tax for both?

Make Note: Don't always think your getting a great deal because it's cheaper, because something can always go wrong.

For Example: I have notice on here in the past that some cats are like yeah I got these pioneer 1000mk3 for like $1200 for the pair and the following week, the same person is bitching about how bad they suck because there having problems with there great deal.

I say, If you can afford the full price, then get em at the full and be happy them. if not, do your homework before you purchase and get a great price that you can afford.

well considering you already own black decks lol, the only difference is the non clicking at 0, 8% more pitch control, a shiny led replacement light... dont forget about the adjustable height of the tonearm and as far as weight balancing they do have the new knob (forgot what its called) that makes the tonearm solid as can be...and you get the nice headshells with weights built into the top...as far as i am concerned that is alot of upgrading to a turntable that was already perfect...i doubt this post helped, but just stating the obvious for you

I've got a bonus check earmark'd for the M5G's. I'll make it up by selling my old Mk2's.

I would look to see what other hardware i could add to my setup with that kind of spare cash that would make a bigger improvement/difference to what i can normally do, before i bought very similar tables.

It depends on how much extra you value the added/upgraded features.

I've got all the other stuff I needed. The thing is, I used my boys Technics M3's with the pitch button and noticed how precise his pitch slider and my mixes were. Gotta hav'em...

I sold my 1210 MK2 that were 10 years old and in mint to buy 1200GLD's. I love my GLD limited Editions but my 1210's had history to them. The 16% pitch, i only used a handful of times Quartz Lock, - I love, Blue lights - bah humbug, Gold Plating - Bling Bling. Oh before I forget, the 1210's have dual voltage and for some odd reason has a more reliable power supply unit then it's American Imports.

There are a few places where you can still get them new from $720 - $900 a piece.
