HOLY CRAP...i was JUST going to post this topic as a complete joke and say "haven't seen this subject in awhile"
"any ideas how to record?" this has to be the most repeating thread ever, next to "when is the next update"
why is this not stickied yet?

How long are your mixes generally when you burn to a dvd, and what settings for screen flow?

Normally I mix no more than an hour or so... I use pro res add markers and edit and add text or hide text : ) and then take to Idvd. Works like a champ I do the same in ME,,,

customized, not on a set template, like every 5 or 15 minutes.
I want chapters at each transition.

ok..... loving VSL, ME is not so interesting to me because I use only few tranzitions and keep it simple & minimal (latch 50, grid & croma) but..... ME has a great way to record mix......
Tried screen flow and it is ok for mix if you want to upload it to web and that is it.....
video stutter.... and my macbook is at 50% cpu power vith VSL and ScreenFlow... guess SF it is not build for recording video :)
tried also dvd recorder but the quality is not even close to the quality od the screen flow....
in ME video is flawless and has no issue with stutter picture
I personaly don`t want to buy ME only because i can record mix, but like to se some efford from Serato to put their brains together and make the f*kin video recording option so the quality is like on ME
Sorry 4 the possible OT but I had to type this because i`m frustrated :).... and living in hope that they will make some update :) - cmon serato - YOU CAN DO IT!! Sometime before I decide to go with ME :)

So, is Rane going to address this at all? Is there a plan in the pipeline about maybe considering the feature of being able to record your video mixes just like recording the audio mixes? Is it that difficult to integrate?
So what IS the best way to record your video mix? About an hour.

play your video on a tv, turn tv volume up, place camera in front of tv, plug camera into betamax, press record on betamax.

even better... pull out the ole' 8mm film camera, put in the film, film your set from the TV, take the film to be developed, dust off your 8mm film projector, watch it in awe as technology is so far advanced to give you the ability to film the "talkies" ....

seriously? i used screenflow it's simple. When you open the program may sure u record to the 2nd display. If you want to record the audio you will need a rca to headphone jack and of course an extra booth or record out on your mixer. Go from the mixer straight to line on mac. This is the way I've been doing my audio recording. I am not sure how others do it but it works.

Also you can actually move screenflow onto the 2nd display when recording. Maybe that's why i had that tiny lag cause i had the screenflow application up on the mac but minimized. It may but less stress on the laptop moving it over to the 2nd display.

I found an easy way to record "Video Mixes" with Video SL with out having to buy ME or Screenflow. For Mac users: Quicktime has the ability to do it!! Here is the tutorial video i found today!!

+1 exactly
Now serato could come up with a better solution, but they choose not too and to let people use other methods to record there set.
None of which is easier that using ME.

it's crazy to think that after this many years the issue still comes up.
it's crazier to realize serato hasn't addressed it.
i've had my solution since September 2009....inklen.
